Yummy French Toast |
|
I absolutley love French toast. Love to try new recipes. One of my favorites is called decadent french toast and is made with cinnamon swirl bread and brown sugar. It is made in the oven instead of on the stove, and takes longer then the normal French toast, but it is sooooo good. I have also read some recipes for German and Italian French toast, never tried them. Do you guys like French toast? Do you have a favorite recipe?

1. sandymay48 (1128) | 7 months ago | Hi amybrezik...I do love french toast. One of my favourites is made with raisin bread rather than normal bread..It is dipped in the egg batter mixed with yogurt, and cooked, and topped with strawberries, and an orange syrup...and topped with whipped cream!!

sandymay48 (1128) | 7 months ago | THis one is good too....One of my favourites..
Ingredients
1 each banana, ripe, peeled 2 teaspoon frozen orange-juice concentrate 4 piece cinnamon-raisin bread 2 each large egg white 1/4 cup skim milk 1/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt, or low-fat yogurt 1 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup, or honey 1 teaspoon butter
Preparation
1. In a small, shallow bowl, mash banana coarsely with a fork. Stir in orange-juice concentrate. Spread the banana mixture over half the slices of bread and top with the remaining bread slices, forming 2 sandwiches. In a pie plate, whisk together egg whites and milk; add sandwiches and soak for about 20 seconds. Turn sandwiches over and soak for 20 seconds longer.
2. In a small bowl, stir together the yogurt and maple syrup or honey. Set aside. In a nonstick skillet, melt half the butter over low heat. Tilt the pan to swirl the butter around the skillet. With a metal spatula, place the sandwiches in the pan, and cook until the underside is browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Lift the sandwiches and add the remaining butter. Turn over and cook for 5 to 7 minutes longer, or until browned. Serve with sweetened yogurt.
Its like having cinnamon raisin french toast with a banana filling!!

2. marguicha (3275) | 7 months ago | I love French Toast. I make them with many kinds of bread depending on what I have at hand. I specially like it made with French breach (baguette) which I slice very thin. I prefer a day old (or more) bread and let it soak in the egg, sugar and milk batter. When done, I sprinkle it with sugar and cinammon. A bit of ground cloves taste fien too but it´s just a tiny bit.

French toast is my favorite pick for brunch or breakfast, when I literally have no time to experiment, especially on busy Sunday mornings!:) Well, I have this wonderful French toast recipe to share - it's called the Baked Pecan French Toast! Apart from the pecan twist that you will for sure enjoy, this recipe also saves a lot of time spend on making the toast on fry-pan, coz you can bake this one!
Enjoy and try this recipe and get the Baked Pecan french toast video here - believe me it is simply awesome

4. peavey (3646) | 7 months ago | I'm the odd one out. I like french toast, but I don't care for it being sweet. I just scramble an egg, add milk and dip bread in it, then fry it. Rye bread is especially good this way, but I use all kinds, except for the sweet kinds.

5. lilybug (15200) | 7 months ago | My favorite is to take 2 slices of cinnamon raisin bread and spread strawberry jam on one piece and cream cheese on the other. You put them together and dip them in the egg mixture and pan fry.

6. sunshine4 (6292) | 7 months ago | I love french toast too! I was just watching a tv show that showed how to make a low calorie french toast. It was made in cupcake tins and then they filled the french toast with a kind of creamy cheese~ maybe ricotta, but I am not sure~ and then topped with berries and syrup. They looked soo good!

7. Boofybutt (198) | 7 months ago | I love french toast because it's so easy to make, and there are lots of ways to make it. One of my favorite ways, and my kids love this too, is I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, dip them in the french toast batter, and then fry it up like normal. The peanut butter gets all melty and gooey, and then we top it with powdered sugar. YUMMY!!!!
