He could have checked it then

We had our contractor friend over yesterday showing the tiles for our bathroom and the matching wall and ceiling colors as well as a sample of the cabinet door. So far so good. The men decided on a off white brown tone (although I would have preferred more like an aqua) and everything was all set. The samples were there, my husband could have examined them to see if they were strong enough and that is the problem. We already made out the check, and our friend went away to start to order the tiles and the cabinet, toilet etc.
Then in the evening, my husband decides to want to check to see the quality of the tile sample and the door sample, find out where it was manufactured, its durability, etc. Now why did he not do that in the first place? He could have examined when our friend was there. After all he is a contractor and knows what he is talking about.
So do you have a husband like that, he decides later on to check to see if things are right after the purchase has been made?

My ex did that when he was dealing with friends. That's the problem, dealing with friends! He never felt comfortable questioning anything, even though his friends expected questions and offered a variety of things to choose from. They were always left wondering if he would really be satisfied because he'd always take their recommendations.
If you would have preferred aqua, hurry up and call to see if they have ordered yet or if they can change it. You'll have to look at that bathroom several times a day for the rest of your life so you'd better make sure you love it!

I'll just leave it at that. I think all the construction guys watch Holmes on Holmes and brown and sand colors seem to be in now.

I am so glad that my husband isnt like that! We are both very thorough when we are buying anything! We check all of the details and do all of the research before we ever give out the money.
If you are unhappy with the quality, it may not be too late to cancel the order. Sometimes there is a window of time where you can cancel or change the order.
Why isnt your husband doing your bathroom if he is also a contractor? It seems like he would want to do the work himself so that he knows everything is done just the way he would want it! Every contractor I know is quite picky!

He wanted me to draw the design. Now is that not the contractor's job to bring certain designs and show it to you? My husband has arthritis, and the directions he gave me made the bathroom look like a series of squares instead of part diagonals that I wanted. I do not subscribe to Better Home and Gardens and I was not down at Roma or Home Hardware to pick up one of their how to magazines. I am not unhappy with the quality, but I wish he had checked it out there and asked about it instead of this hind site business. It is all about timing. He does not have it.

LOL! I could see how that would be frustrating. Im sorry to hear that he has arthritis. It must be frustrating to him to have to let someone else do the bathroom.

He was telling me how to put out tiles on paper. And of course I got it wrong all the time.

Maybe he was just second guessing himself on his choices? My husband is a carpenter and he usually checks out to test and see the products durability first. Cause even though another person might make the choices it ends up the contractors fault if things get messed up and doesn't work out so I am sure he picked good reliable sample pieces that are sturdy to show you.

It sounds like he was thinking after the contracter left. I know that I had more questions after they said we had gotten the bathroom approved. I am sure he just wants to make sure it will hold up.

Well he should have found out then and questioned them. Also they showed him the tiles they were going to use. WE did go for a lighter shade, but that was all. It was the same quality.

My husband is a fuss budget. That is all I can see. He is a worse perfectionist then I am. Anyway the bathroom is perfect so he has nothing to complain about.

Ok, one advantage to being single - don't have to deal with airhead husbands :) shhh don't tell your hubby I said that, sorry all you men out there, ok I can be an air head too but really think something that important, I mean I'm sure we're talking more than a couple dollars here, I would have checked first and then wrote check.
