i don't think it is useful for you to study math. we can't use them when we live in the world. just a little persons use them , and also they must have many equipment to help them to earn money. and we can't gain somethings if we only good at math. do you think it is necessary for you to study further math like calculus?

I don't understand what you say, but to me Math IS everything in life. When you go to grocery store, you buy things, used your money, which is by the way, are NUMBERS, and when you buy something / a few things, and pay, you pay the NUMBER, and you have to add the total price and then subtract to get your balance. Well don't that remind you of something, the MATH class. When you pay your Utility bills, the charges are in dollars /cents per unit, then there will be multiplication or division involved. If you are in business (small and big, it doens't really matter) You 'll eventually involved with everything in math. You drive the car, to get to your destination, and you need to estimate your time of arrival, conscious or subconsciously, you estimate, your driving speed and the time taken to arrive to your destination. Need i to give more examples???

Certainly, but, i am not that expert in calculus, and i did learn it generally. It involve with the derivation and integral of a situation. But generally, I love math, from math, if you study math and enjoy much of it, you can see, math is no different from life. For example an equation does not solved with only one solution, there always another way to it.

Math IS like literature...but simple minds cannot see the connection, and even simpler minds hate literature as well. I want to ask you one question where do you think you stand, fwangaa?

you are talking to someone here that had to be tutored thru high school algabra to someone who if you stick a letter in a problem, suddenly her brain seizes up but... BUT, there are reasons to learn more advanced mathmatics, just everything I need to know I can do on a calculator...

In the past I would think the same like you. But after I grow up, I think math is still very important for us. I think learning math is helping us to think complicated things and try to find the solution. It practises the brain. I love China

I recently decided to take an extra course in math because it is not one of my strengths and I wanted to improve my math skills. I am happy that I did that because I am able to use some of the things that I learned in my daily life. I need math when I make a budget, when I plan a trip and have to use different kinds of currencies, when I cook and have to make some changes in the recipe, when I need a new floor for living room and have to find out many floor planks I need to buy etc. On the other hand there are also things from the math lessons that I never use in my everyday life. Some things are not directly useful, but I think that basic math skills are important in your everyday life.

Yes. WE all must learn some math. You have to have it in your daily life. There is some of it we do not need too though.

just a wild guess, are you having a hard time with your calculus subject that is why you are saying that math is not useful? I don't think a lot of people would agree with you. there are a lot of different kinds of math, general math is needed by everyone from all walks of life. Calculus on the other hand, and other specialized math subjects are useful to other professions. You may not find it that important for you but it would help for you to have a knowledge of what calculus or trigonometry is about. I love math though I am not claiming that I am an expert. I just like the way numbers are interconnected with each other. Its like literature, words connected together to convey an idea. Same with numbers try to keep an open mind, it might help you understand math better.

I have always been thinking that one who is very good at math must be one who is also good at learning some other things. I am sorry to say that I am very poor at math and don't consider myself a very clever person. In our daily life and work, I think that some basic calculation is good enough if we don't do some research work related to calculus or such. Such is my humble voice on this.

hi there, well i got to say that i dont quite agree with you on that statement you make that we cannot use maths in the world we live in. Well i used to have that mentality but evertually when i actually opened up to the world and started looking around at things i realise maths is indeed everything in this world. lets look at basic money that the world spins around in. how are you going to make money if you dont know how to count and do simple arithmetic. simple, plus, minus, times and divide and used almost in the everyday of our life. even the money you get from mylot is based on some alogortithm i believe and that is maths. Can you imagine if there is no maths involved in the payment at mylot? well let me tell you, we will all be getting money in a irregular manner, not knowing who should get more and show should get less. i believe that just like the money makes the world spin, maths is the accomplice of money. best regards, alvingb
