How much did you spend on your wedding dress?

We've reached that point in the planning where it's time (well, actually, past time) to pick out a wedding dress. The trouble is, we can't really figure out where to set the limit. I know I don't want to spend $700 on a new one, or something too high like that, but my fiance also doesn't want me to get one second hand like my mother did because I guess he wants it to be more special or something? I'd be fine with a second hand dress (they have some good ones for $25), but it's his wedding too.
So my question to you was what did you spend on your dress? Do you regret spending that much or if you could do it over would you spend less?I know that I was talking to one of my friends who's been married for about 25 years and she spent $700 on her dress and she regrets it because it got worn once and then pushed into the closet and it hasn't been out since and they could've used the money for something more useful.
So what do you think?

I don't think it matters how much you spend on your dress as long as you like it and it looks good on you. Having said that, I think I would have a stroke if I spent $1,000 or more on a dress - lol! The important thing is that you are marrying the man of your dreams that you will spend the rest of your life with.

It really depend on your comfortability. When I got married, I didn't spend much money on my wedding dress because I know I will only use it once and I know I will regret If I spend a fortune on it. I think it is best that you choose a dress that fits you well and that it really doesnt matter how much it cost but the important thing is that you carry it well.
I also add an image of my wedding dress, I only both it $70 (already converted into dollars).

Not a single cent
. My hubby has an aunt who owns a dressmaking shop - she created the gown for me as a gift. If I had paid for it, it would cost around Php20,000

By the way, she also made all the gowns of the maid of honor, bridesmaids, flower girls, and parents of the bride and groom

Wedding dresses seem to be very expensive in my country compared to yours. I spent about $1200 on my wedding dress, and I didn't choose one of the expensive ones! I am not even sure that $700 would be enough to buy a wedding dress here, but I guess it would be possible to rent one for that amount. I saw a wedding dress in a second shop and the price was $15, so there is a huge difference between new and used wedding dresses. My father used to joke about it, suggesting I buy a second hand dress instead of a new one, but I wanted a new one, and I don't regret that.

5 years ago I spent $250 on my dress. I found it at a bridal shop that sold all different brands of dresses.
My best friend had to go to a name brand store and ended up spending $890 on her dress just a few months ago.
Funny thing is we both had the same BRAND dress. Alfred Angelo! I just got a much better deal.

I ended up spending $30.00 dollars on my wedding dress. I went with a non-tradional wedding dress. I used a cinderalla style prom dress. It is just as pretty as the wedding dresses I picked out. It looks just like one of the wedding dresses I choose. It was $500.00 and I found this one online at a store for $30.00 after Prom times. Happy MyLotting!!

Hi!This is a very interesting question and I am glad you brought the subject up. I was lucky in the fact that Mum bought my wedding dress. It was relatively new but had been reduced £200 in the shop so it obviously wasn't BRAND new, if you see what I mean. Originally, it would have cost a grand but you are right, it is a lot of money to pay for something you will not wear again.
In my case I wore it for the ceremony in the Planet Hollywood's Chapel, Las Vegas. In total (on the day) I reckon I wore it for about 2 and a half hours because I did not want to swan about the hotel in it afterwards.
However, I did wear the dress again, a month after the wedding. We had a "do" for those who did not attend Las Vegas (who were in the majority seeing as I live in the UK) so it was a great opportunity for people to see the dress up close as opposed to gazing at photographs. This was a wonderful experience and proved that the money had not been wasted as I got some lovely comments off people I knew.
I do feel guilty about keeping it in a box upstairs but it is a special dress and I cannot part with it. I do not regret having a new dress.
Personally, I would not feel the same "connection" with a second-hand dress but there again I did not have to pay for mine. I did buy it on my Credit Card, then Mum chose to pay that off for me, a tremendous gesture I will never forget.
It's a tough one isn't it? Whatever you do, though, don't order a dress off the internet because I have heard horror stories about them not arriving on time or - God forbid - not fitting properly.

I didn't remember surely about my cost of wedding, but i remembered i rent from the wedding stodio, and i selected the discount studio.I never have more important about this.I want only i select the groom right or not.
