Why do some people fall in love with a fellow of opposite gender?

I agree with you that 'opposite poles attract each other' and it is a universal truth. I also buy your argument that there could be some natural or physical reasons for falling in love. Thanks for responding.

I did not know that it is like chiken and the egg riddle. You have very well highlighted the fact that lust and infatuation cannot be considered as love or are beyond love and I also believe the same. If one is falling in love because of lust and or it is just an infatuation, then it cannot last longer. What I gather from your response is there are no certain qualities/traits which can attract the other fellow, there may be unlimited or undefined reasons for falling in love with someone. You appear to be a 'master' on this subject and you have explained the riddle very nicely. Opposite attracting each other is a universal truth and I have no hesitation is accepting the same. I agree with you that 'words' play an important role in attracting the other fellow, words create or say cast a magical spell on the person, whom these are conveyed and its impact results in love. You have beautifully defined love happening in virtual world and what happens when and how one falls in love. It is difficult for me to judge if some of us keep planting feelings in others, so that they could fall in love. (You may have your own reasons for this observation).

But Sudipta, my question remains unanswered, what made you fall in love, what were the special traits in your hubby, which prompted you to fall in love with him and eventually, you made him your life partner?

Oh he was the perfect TDH when I met him(tall, dark, handsome)...I have always been attracted towards tall men since I have grown up seeing my Dad who is 6'. Initially so, the looks were important and then we all were a group of friends in college so we all were a lot together. After college, we never studied further (a fact that we both rue today) and got jobs and got married. One good thing is that we had our child early in life and now at 35, we have a 10yr old son so the battle of life has begun early and hopefully by the time we are 50, he will have established himself.
You see Deepak, we sacrificed a lot of our dreams coz we never gave importance to our career...money was and still is short so we never had any honeymoon or we never get to travel and enjoy ourselves. But its OK...we are now slightly better off and if all goes well, we intend to catch up on our dreams after 50.

So your hubby was tall enough to make you attract towards him (I do hope you are also taller to other women, by an average standard?) You said that you never studied further after your college, do you mean to say that you both wanted to pursue post graduation, somehow you could not?
It is good that you got married early and by the time you turn 50, your son would have settled and you would have probably become a mother-in-law, once he settles down........LOL!
I can understand your concern about 'money' and I believe it is the situation with every middle-class couple, they always struggle to get more money and comforts.
Many thanks for giving all the details about you, your hubby and son. God willing, your unfulfilled dreams and desired will get fulfilled sooner than later.

Well, I am 556" so by avg bengali standard I am tall.
We had no intention of further studies, we got our jobs and just wanted to get married...typically filmy ishtyle (ghoomna pasand nahi tha)
so here we are now...sometimes we do think that we should have studied further and got better jobs but then we look at our son and see others of our age (35)who have just started a family and we immediately feel that we took the right decision.

come on Dpk dont sound so disappointed.......I was only pulling your leg....... ..Well actually the fact is I have no secrets to reveal to you as mine was an arranged marriage and I never got a chance to fall in love with the opposite gender before my marriage.....
And two factors that make me love my husband is because he is my husband ,and I have got used to living with him and having him around all the time,and we understand each other and get along well!!!....

My story is similar to yours. Mine was also an arranged marriage and my better half is my lover........LOL!
I being very shy, there was no question of falling in love with anyone and we were brought up in an conventional environment, therefore we did not have any courage to think about falling in love with anyone.
