Do you like where you live? | | Why or why not? This can relate to what city or country you live in, or your house/apartment/etc. I like that I have a nice view of the Rocky Mountains from where I live, but I don't care for the city itself because it's just too big for me. I also don't much like the dry climate, although I do appreciate that it means fewer mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks than other places. My apartment is ok for the price. It's fairly large and in a good neighborhood. There are always troubles when sharing a building with other families, though, mostly related to noise. Overall I would say it's a decent place to live.

I just wish I can take and put some place like myrtle beach or miami and put it where i live instead of the city of knoxville. Cause i love being in the mountains, but I love the beach too. if I could have both worlds I'd be complete. I only about an hour from Gatlburg and the great Smoky Mountains national park so there is a lot to do up there since Dolly wood is there and everything, but I like the beach too. if i could take and mush the two together I would.

thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | I grew up in a beach town, and that's the one thing I miss most here. The mountains are really beautiful, but I wish there were some real lakes that you could actually go swimming in.

| | 2. kykidd (4555) | 7 months ago | I enjoy the area that I am living in now for the summer. It isn't as hot as some areas and there is a lot of wildlife. I have even started a folder on my computer of photographs that I have taken of the wildlife. I always lived somewhat in the country, but I guess I am just appreciating it a little more this Spring. I also have a friend, not too far away, who has a heated swimming pool where I can go and cool off when summer gets here. That is very nice of her, and I hope she knows how much I appreciate it.

thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | Even though I'm in the city, there's still quite a bit of wildlife here, too. If I could find my camera, I'd be taking photographs as well.

| | 3. lelin1123 (4204) | 7 months ago | I love the house I live in and the area. Its very quiet and the weather is dry and sunny for the most part. Neighbors are very nice and there is really never any type of noise unless someone is starting their truck or motorcycle. However, the one thing I don't like about living here is that well paying jobs are hard to come by. If you come from New York its a big change and yes I knew that before I moved here but didn't realize how big of a change.

thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | I think that jobs are harder to come by everywhere, but there are certainly some cities that are doing better than others. The city I live in is doing better than many, but low-range jobs for college students or people without a lot of experience seem to be really hard to find.

| | | 4. skermit23 (96) | 7 months ago | I live in a decent place in the country/city. Meaning I live in the country but right down the road starts the city. I like where I live but sooner or later I plan on moving somewhere peaceful. I have always wanted to live out in the country in an old white farm house. With lots of space for my daughter and my animals. I have had horses since I was a little girl but due to the economy had to down size so now its just my dogs, cats, and a rabbit. So, I would like my daughter to experience the championship of a horse just as I have.

beachstarz (894) | 7 months ago | I live in a small fishing village in the Yucatan, Mexico . I live right by the beach, and that's where I usually walk in the morning. The locals here are either mayan or part mayan . The people are wonderful, the warmest people we have ever known . Our house is small, but we have a nice pool for cooling off on hot days and we have 12 big palm trees with lots of coconuts . As I type this I can look out my window and see humming birds, dragonflies, and butterflies out back . I can usually watch my dogs from the window playing in the yard with coconuts and chasing each other around the pool . Our youngest will jump in the pool and swim, I call her"Big Fish" It's pretty warm here all year long . Today it was 100 degrees, but being by the ocean you get a breeze . I had lived near Chicago all my life, so you can imagine how much I love it here with no snow and such friendly people .

| | 5. xoxcharityxox (572) | 7 months ago | I live in Ohio and personally I'd love to relocate. Ohio winters are just not for me. I want somewhere warm all year round and with plenty of water for awimming or surfing. We stay here mostly due to having family close by and the summer's aren't too bad, but I'd still eventually like to wave good bye to ohio.

| | 6. imajerseygirl (297) | 7 months ago | Wow, how to answer this question. As you can tell by the name I am originally from Jersey and I like Jersey, close to the city and all. I now live in NC ugh! I hate it. I love the house we live in, no way you could find a 4 bedroom with a big yard in Jersey for the amount we pay. But it is to hot here, my winter jacket kept my hanger warm all winter. I don't like the fact that everything closes around 9/10pm. And that the closest thing is usually about 10/15 minutes away, as to were I was located in NJ 24hr 7/11, Dunkin Donuts, etc. and usually anything 5 minutes away.:( I miss Jersey. (Can you tell? LOL)

thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | The city I live in is really spread out, too. It takes at least 10-15 minutes to get anywhere, and 20-30 if you have to go somewhere on the other side of town. Plus, the public transit is useless.
| |
|
|
imajerseygirl (297) | 7 months ago | Oh you have public transportation besides a taxi? You are so lucky! Luckily I have my license but it is good to know you can take a bus or a train when you have to. Where I live now, there is no public transportation besides a taxi. The closest thing to me is my kids school 15 min walk but next year it a 4 mile drive one way, cause there school is closing cause they built a bigger one.
| |
|
|
thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | Just because the public transit exists doesn't mean it's any use. The buses are rarely on schedule, and on average it takes around 3 hours to get somewhere you could probably walk to in 1 hour. The routes are stupid and they don't actually go near schools or most workplaces. And apparently, they're cutting the budget, so we can only expect it to get worse.

| | | 7. Valentine28 (74) | 7 months ago | I like where I live although most other teenagers don't because they feel it is a small town, but that's why I like it. I'm not really a big city type of person, and my city isn't even really that small. It's like in the middle between big and small. I love being so close to the country region, and there are big cities within 45 minutes away. It's fun to load up my friends and take a day trip to another city on the weekends.

|
thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | When I was a teenager I really thought that I'd prefer to live in a bigger city, but once I actually moved to a bigger city I didn't like it so much. I think I'm a smaller-town sort of person, too.

| | 9. JDy116 (1447) | 7 months ago | The neighborhood is quiet we're living in a compound with my relatives of my Mom's side. they are peaceful people than the counterpart on my father's side. I'm glad they are a province away from us.
But I hate the weather. I said I can stand heat than cold, but now it's summer . I hate the hot weather I can't sleep.
Also, I don't like the sights of poverty. I can live simple life. But sights of poverty make me feel restless when I experience it. Everyday when I go home I had to ride that uncomfortable tricycle and it's been the mode of transportation here for several decades now. It is not improving.

thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | I know what you mean. I can live simply, too, but I've lived in impoverished neighborhoods before and it just makes me sad. I don't think that people should have to live in bad neighborhoods or bad housing just because they don't make a lot of money.

| | 10. Sweetchariot (950) | 7 months ago | As I get older I like where I live less and less. I live in a mid-size city in Massachusetts, better known as Taxachusetts. The winters can be tiring, often lasting for 5-6 months. The housing prices are sky high, it is overpopulated, and in my town jobs are hard to find. We have more retail shops that hardly pay a decent wage. When I was younger, it was so much nicer, quieter, less people, everyone knew each other... but then the idea of builiding Condos came to life, and we quadrupled the size we once were. Now we have more Bostonian people moving here, since it is less expensive than Boston; They sleep here, but comute to work, and enjoy their social life in Boston. They only come back here to sleep at night. We have basically become a bedroom town.
| |
| |
|
|
thyst07 (1068) | 7 months ago | I took a class on urban sociology, and we talked about bedroom communities a lot. I agree that they can be a pretty frustrating place to live. If you have a really great, high-paying job in the big city, then commuting to a bedroom community might not seem so bad. But for most people, the commute to the industry center is too expensive, and there aren't enough jobs close to home. I guess that's what we get for building suburbia.
