Do you take your ring off? |
|
Does your ring come off when you do the dishes? bathe a child? do messy work? get mad at hubby?
Mine normally stays on. I learned to take it off while making bread by hand... dough is extremely difficult to clean out of the diamond setting area!! I learned that the hard way sadly.
I'm a bit of a brat sometimes too, and whenever hubby and I get in a big fight I will take my ring off then too. He hates it, and I know I shouldn't do it, but it's one of those things for me. When I'm mad at him I can't wear my ring. It only happens during really really big fights though, which don't happen too often thankfully.
When was the last time your ring came off? Have you ever taken it off when you were mad at your spouse?

32. cynthiann (3145) | 7 months ago | No, I never managed to get it off. Even during sugery they had to tape the ring in case of germs. Once, I tried to get it off and throw at my husband but I could not get it off. We ended up giggling. He would never fight or argue so my tantrums during the foirst year of masrriage just fizzled out. He was so quiet - full of fun but his temper was not arounsed easily.
I still wear both rings - even though I have been a widow for 9 years now.

34. jesssp (1265) | 7 months ago | The last time I took mine off was this morning when I put hand lotion on. I cannot stand putting lotion on when I'm wearing rings! I take mine off a lot, they come off when I do dishes, when I work in the yard and every night before bed. I made the mistake of wearing my engagement ring when I did yard work last year and I wore the finish off the bottom of it. I can't sleep with them on because my hair gets caught in the setting and ripped out! I try to remember to put them on whenever I leave the house but if it's a weekend and I'm running around between doing chores and errands it usually stays at home. Luckily I haven't got mad enough at him to leave it off on purpose but I am definitely not above doing that if I was angry enough!

35. walijo2008 (3730) | 7 months ago | I don't hardly take them off, the only time I'll take them off is like you when I'm messing with any kind of dough, or if I have to use my hands to mix something up like meatloaf or making hamburger patties, its gross to get that meat in your rings. I don't take them off when I get mad at my husband though. He does get onto me if I have them sitting by the sink he says thats a good way for them to fall down the drain..lol

36. MsTickle (8975) | 7 months ago | When you say ring, do you mean wedding ring or engagement ring? Traditionally, where I come from the wedding ring is a plain band, the engagement ring is a diamond and some are lucky to have an eternity ring with stones around the band. A lot of ladies take the rings with stones off when doing heavy or messy work in case the stones get lost...getting them dirty is not a problem because they are easily cleaned. But the wedding band never comes off. It's a symbol you wear of your love and the vows you made to one another...to remove your ring was to break your vows of marriage.
I think standards and values have fallen by the wayside these days and wedding vows are meaningless. People lie and cheat to their spouse and think nothing of it as long as they don't get caught. In spite of the fact that you know your husband doesn't like it, you remove your ring when you fight, like a child throwing a tantrum or maybe as a warning or a threat...whatever your reason, and you DO have one even if you say you don't, to me that would mean you disrespect your vows or that your vows have ceased to have value.
If your husband wore a ring and he took his off...how would you feel?

katsmeow1213 (4914) | 7 months ago | I don't own a wedding band, just an engagement ring, even though I've been married for 6 years.
My vows do mean a lot to me. I'd never cheat on my husband, I'd never lie to him. He knows that. He knows it would take a HUGE force to get me to leave him. And I know it would take a HUGE force to get him to leave me. That's just how we feel about our marriage.
So no, taking my ring off when I'm mad doesn't mean a darn thing.
Honestly, you don't know me, my life, my husband, or my family, so how can you just jump to conclusions and assume that I mean a terrible thing when I take my ring off? How can you tell me I'm throwing a temper tantrum when you don't even know me?? Are you here when it happens? Do you see how my husband and I interact with each other?
Is my ring directly tied to my vows? I didn't think it was. I thought it was just a piece of jewelry I wear on my finger that shows others that I'm married. I didn't even own this ring until a few months after our wedding. So how is a ring really all that important??

37. emma412 (905) | 7 months ago | Ha Ha! I think I have taken my ring off twice when my husband and I have gotten into a big fight. I was just so mad I didn't want to look down and see that band that was tied to the thing making me so angry. He got really mad both times when he realized I was not wearing it.
I think I have taken it off one or two other times just because it was irritating my skin. I am pregnant right now and my fingers are so swollen all the time. I don't think I could get it off if I tried right now. I hope the hubs doesn't piss me off! Haha!

38. deejean06 (1160) | 7 months ago | Hi katsmeow...I constantly take my ring off - I take it off when I wash dishes, when I shower, when I go to sleep. I know there are some people who think that you should never take your ring off because you'll only lose it - but thankfully that hasn't happened to me yet. I've never taken it off out of anger though. I think that would hurt him more than anything and I just couldn't do that.

40. caesarin (328) | 7 months ago | I never wear my ring and so is my husband. I'd love to wear it but since my husband don't wear it, I don't too. He doesn't want to see the soft scratches on his ring, while he have to do lots of messy works. Besides, our wedding rings have diamonds on it. So, we decided to wear it on special occasions like parties, etc. Somewhere we don't do messy works.
