Should children be allowed carrying cellphones in schools???

I remember when I was younger, my parents had no problem getting in touch with me while I was in school... I never had problem with getting in touch with at least one of my parents through work... I never needed a cell phone while I was in school... One of the reason why my daughter is not getting a cell phone, & interestingly enough, she doesn't want one... Granted that she's only 9 but I know some of her friends already have cell phones... If she's not in school, she has no business being alone... She's gonna be either with baby sitter, at her friends house with friend's parent(s), etc... It's not about the expenses... How many 19 year olds now remember having cell phone 10 years ago? When she's old enough to drive, I'll might get her a phone but till then, I don't think she needs one...

For me they are allowed as long as they are using it in the way it should be use, for communication. There is nothing bad if they have.
I only say that children may not be allowed to have celfone while inside the classroom or in school and have classes so that it can not interfere its attention.

No,no,no,no,no and no! Children shouldn't be aloowed to bring celphones to school! I don't care if it just in an emergeny or to all to picked up form school! Vhildren and teenagers ABUSE CELLPHONES and USE THEM IN THE CLASSROOM WHEN THEY AREN'T SUPPOSE TO! This WHY CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE CARRING AIUND OR USING CELLPHONES! When they are 16 and can afford a phone and the bill they can get one@ If not they can buy one and pay fro their bills at 18!!!!! This is my opinion!!

I think that kids should have cell phones in schools but only should be allowed to use them at certain times of the day such as before class,lunch and after school.Now I understand some parents want to keep in contact with their kids but they only contact them only when it is necessary and according to school guidelines.

i think carrying cell phones to school is not at all a good idea........firstly school is a place where children are just learning the way of life......they are not so responsible at that time.....so you may never know what they do with it or whether they put in all their time after that cell phone and not studies.......so it would really be a bad idea to do something like this......college students should be allowed as their maturity level is more and can use the cell phone responsibly......although it is banned in my college....

i think no. They are using it for all wrong purposes. Plus as they are not so mature, it brings inferiority complex among them.It is not good as I think.

Here in the Philippines the students are allowed to bring their cellphones but it is not permitted to use while their still classes at school. Now a days cellphones is necessity it is very hard to implement a rules about it. It is a medium of communication but sometimes it is also a medium of cheating and gambling. I think our government have law about it but it is up to the school if they allowed their students to bring cellphones.

I think after certain age it is fine to give them cellphone. After all today when not a single person is safe then it is the best way to keep in contact with them. To know whether they are safe or not. However expensive phones should not be allowed. A cell with less price and with all minimum facilities can be a good option.

i think allowing children to bring cellphones in school depends on how the kid react with it. it may or may not affect his studies but it surely be a help to parents, making sure their child is in good place... keeping in touch is the best way, i think for children to be safe.

I remember kids in my High school carrying cell phones around in their bags. The teachers didn't mind unless it went on during the class. Then they would take it away until the parents came to pick it up. I don't see anything wrong with it being in school.
