Should children be allowed carrying cellphones in schools???

Yes I think so. I think it's pretty ridiculous when your teacher tries to take your phone away or something like that. I don't understand why a teacher has the right to take away something that's not theirs and that they haven't paid for. A lot of kids need their cell phone so they can call their parents when they need a ride or if they want to ask them if they can do something or anything like that.

I do think that children should be able to take cellphones to school. It is a very good way to keep in touch with the kids and can be very handy. However, the school and cellphone issue has to do with discipline. I think there is ways to discipline a child on how to handle a cellphone at school. I think if the school is strict about cellphone use inside classrooms then parents, and students alike, will take that into consideration. Parents should also be aware, that even though their child having a cellphone is very convinient, that the school also has the right to discipline their child regarding the cellphone usage.

It depends. In Mumbai(India), school students used cellphones to record the classes taken by their teachers. They used these videos and audios later to recall the topics. They showed a great progress through this idea. These kinda uses must be encouraged. But, some use them for 'other' things. So, it depends on the student. Government must let the decision to be taken by individual parents whether to offer their children mobile or not. We can't control the usage by just rules. In my school, mobile is not allowed. But, many use it. What to do with these kinda people?

well in the school where in enrolled my eldest, yeah they do allowed students bringing cellphones inside the class rooms but its in silent mode, if not then good luck to them. its part of discipline inside the campus. and its safe also for letting them bring cellphones, because we parents can make follow on them and if they cant go home early, we can easily contact them. and of course there is always an advantage on that, and thats normal. anything we do has an advantage and disadvantages. we parents should guide our children, keep on reminding to do things which are right for them. guidance is the very important factor in having a child.

This discussion is an interesting one and as parents we have to be very vigilant with our charges. In our times as school children we would of had other technological devices or media such as Walkmans that would be distractions,magazines that would not be age appropriate and other types of other distractions. But what the cell phone does is allow 'real time' transmission of information, its a miniature computer, allowing all types of multimedia communication (this is both exciting and scary times in societies when a new technology comes into it). Cultures are affected and as the saying goes knowledge is power. But power in the wrong hands and uninformed power is dangerous. So allow the use of cell phones yes but with a lot of rules and regulations have to be instituted and implemented to use the cell phone technology in meaningful ways at school.There will be a lot to debate here but very interesting post.Thanks

i don't think they need to take cell phone to school but all the kids i know do so maybe i am old fashion.i don't have as much to say as some people do i guess as ones that are on the phone all time

i totally agree with you that cellphones put parents at ease and that the cellphones kids carry should be the simplest model. basically for communication and not for showing off which is unethical and dangerous if you know what i mean...

Yes it is important that children have a cellphone in school.
It is a tool where you can check out where your child and what
she did.If ever she has needs she can easily call and text her mom
about the needs.Parents also can send message right away without
traveling to her . Any important message will be immediately
relate to her .And if you have request for her to do its really
easy and acted upon.

No i dont think soo, because school childrens are not capable of handling that, and it might be dangerous,cellphones may spoil them, they will be concentrating much on that instead of studies and many more things, the college guys are getting spoiled, then why not school childrens ......i dont think it would be a good decision......
