Is my crock pot broken? |
|
SO I'm redoing some dishes because my dishwasher did a lousy job I have the crock in the sink and I"m putting things in the crock with water to soak ect. Well I was washing a heavy glass by hand and my hand slipped and I broke the glass against the edge of the crock. So there's a chunk of my crock missing about the size of a quarter by the lip. Other than it maybe sharp would I still be able to use it & just be careful? Or is integrity of the crock garbage once heat hits it (ie it would crack and crumble)??
What do you think?

The only reason I replaced it was the same reason as you, I was worried it wouldn't work properly or it would get worse. I still have it sitting here, I'll probably try to give it away. But yours should be fine.

katsmeow1213 (4865) | 6 months ago | A week's paycheck? How much are crockpots where you are? I got my replacement for $40, and it's like a 5 or 6 qt size thing.. and it came with a 1 qt dip warmer thingy that I actually haven't used yet... I almost forgot I had it.

katsmeow1213 (4865) | 6 months ago | Ah, okay... well I wasn't sure if you meant like a week of hubby's paycheck or something crazy!
I too am thinking of trying to find some work in the fall when the kids are in school. I might just find a 10 hour a week thing on Saturday nights when hubby's home so that I don't have to get a sitter.
I'd like to do it now, but it's pointless being summertime, I wouldn't last a month I'd hate having to go to work on a nice Saturday evening when we could be out somewhere!

3. dragon54u (9441) | 6 months ago | I wouldn't think it would affect how it works unless the lid didn't fit as tightly. I used to use the crock as a dish basin, too, till I broke a glass and cut my hand. That put an end to that!

Ouchie! I just figured since I had it soaking already I may as well dip some other dishes into it as well.

5. lilybug (15265) | 6 months ago | Since it is on the outer lip and not anywhere that would be directly touching the heated part I would think it would be fine. You will just have to watch out for that sharp edge when cleaning it in the future.

7. scarlet_woman (8769) | 6 months ago | i would think it'd be fine as long as you don't fill it up to the crack. you may want to test it by heating water in it and see what it does. if there's big enough gap it may not steam properly with the lid on.
