I can't. Wish I had learned when I was younger but wasn't really too interested back then.

2. zui_strumming (238) | 7 months ago | Yes.I'm learning to play a Spanish acoustic guitar.I play casio too and little bit of mouth organ as well. In older times music was so much looked down at in India, wasn't it?! I guess this the reason parents hardly considered teaching kids some instruments.

UK_Shree (1844) | 7 months ago | I think a musical talent is probably still not taken as seriously as it should be.

lumenmom (868) | 7 months ago | I love this idea, because I tend to think it is too late to learn a musical instrument but because I do think it is therapeutic maybe it would be good to just tinker around to see what can be accomplished.

4. Gorjess (1072) | 7 months ago | I had quite a musical childhood. I started the recorder as most children in the UK do in primary school, I got quite good at it but as I got older I stopped, it is more of a child's instrument really and they didn't continue to teach it. I went onto the Viola, I did it for two years but never really enjoyed it, or felt I was any good. It hurt my fingers a lot and I gradually stopped playing. I learned piano from 7 until maybe 11 and got to grade 6 so I was quite good, but again I felt forced to learn. Practice was always a chore. My mum wouldn't let me give up because she had given up and always regretted it, even though she was still very good. I haven't played any instruments for years now, and I only regret giving up the piano because I can't remember much. If I could still remember basics I could teach myself again and enjoy playing it. I wish I could play the guitar or drums, I do enjoy it!

UK_Shree (1844) | 7 months ago | Wow yes that does sound like a very musical childhood! I learnt a little recorder playing at school too, and some keyboard. Was just not meaningful to me back then. Feel differently now though!

6. lumenmom (868) | 7 months ago | I am the same as you. When I was younger I use to play the recorder and I took piano lesson briefly but I did not have much interest. I never learned to play anything else over the years. I wish I had because I think music is not only artistic but very therapeutic. Maybe it's not too late?

UK_Shree (1844) | 7 months ago | Maybe! I guess if we really wanted, there would still be a way to pursue it, even as a hobbie.

UK_Shree (1844) | 7 months ago | Lol, good luck with the efforts! I can play a tiny bit of keyboard. For some reason as soon as I learnt how to play happy birthday on the keyboard, it stuck and now its the only thing I can play!

8. reinydawn (4236) | 7 months ago | I played the flute for 7 years in school. I'm not very good at it, but I can get by. Actually, I haven't played in eons... I might not ever be ok at it any more.

UK_Shree (1844) | 7 months ago | Lol, if you played for seven years, I bet you'd be pretty good still! Just need to pick one up and try!

reinydawn (4236) | 7 months ago | Knowing HOW to play and BEING GOOD at it are a bit different. I can surely play the flute, but I don't do it well. I did enjoy it though!

10. AmbiePam (15339) | 7 months ago | I can play the piano - although I never wanted to learn. My parents felt it was a good extracurricular activity for my sister and I to learn to play a musical instrument. Since my mom could already play the piano, that meant we also owned a piano. So that was what we learned to play. I don't play the piano ever now. I just don't like it, so I never play it. I'm not as good as my sister or mother anyway. I stopped learning after I reached level three. My sister though can play the piano and flute. She even won a national award for her performance on the flute.

AmbiePam (15339) | 7 months ago | I felt bad. All during the years I had lessons, I kept telling my parents they were wasting their money. That I never wanted to play the piano, even when I grew up. They kept telling me I'd change my mind when I was older. But I didn't!
