Yeah its time I have to say GoodBye to my old friend, my DSL Service, I just can't afford to keep it anylonger, so it has to go and its back to stinky, nasty slow, God How I hate it, DIAL UP!!! BLEH!! that leaves such a nasty taste in my mouth too... I had stinky dial up service for 9years+... Then I took a gamble and tried DSL service, which I LOVED IT..I didn't like how it make my monthly phone bill higher but I loved the speed of it; the last couple of months though I've had first one problem then another (live wise) then started having trouble with my old puter here, DSL became WORSE, YES WORSE than DIAL UP, I SWEAR ...sometimes It worked great sometimes it SUCKED! been having trouble with firefox, and so I loaded up the new IE8...thought that would take care of my troubles but no it didn't also loaded up GOOGLE CHROME that's kinda a cool browser... But long story short I just can't keep up with the extra costs of having that wonderful DSL SERVICE...so again goodbye old friend maybe someday we will meet up again, for now its back to dial up for me... Do you have dialup?? What service do you use???

What a bummer, Jan! When I first got my laptop over 5 years ago I had dial up for about a year. Then I decided to go with Dial Up. It is more expensive, but, so far I can afford it. I use my local AT&T company for the service. Last week I called to complain about the monthly cost, but, before I could say anything the representative looked at my bill and said I was paying WAY too much and whittled my bill down for me. He worked it so I'm now paying at least $60 less monthly. Can you believe that? He was sooooo nice, too! Try calling your provider up and ask them if they can give you some sort of deal. That you've been a customer for so many years and so on. The trick is you have to be soooooo nice to them. You know, butter up to them or they won't want to do much for you! LOL! It's not easy being on Disability is it? I can really relate to what you are saying, hon. God bless you, sweetie. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

HI Kellyjeanne: Yeah I tried that already it didn't work for me, I was having a hissy fit because suddenly they not only charged me the usual monthly fee for my DSL on my AT&T phone bill/but there was a double month billing and the twit at DSL said but we can do this whenever we want too, I had had DSL for over a year and they never had done that to me, well I was NOT nice about it not nice at all I told her my situation and that my bills could not stand for a DOUBLE BILLING whenever it suited them etc..etc..etc.. so more or less I told them where to stick the DSL ...ROTFL!!! I was not in a good mood that day anyway, (I never am) but that really set me off and put me over the moon...stupid b!tch!!! so anyway long story short no more DSL for me for now...I'm just gonna have a few more lumps and bumps on my body for banging my head on the keyboard and then putting my fist through the wall and or kicking the wall...LOL! In my mind I am doing all of these things like I used to do, but since having my neck and back injuries I can no longer do those sorts of fits...(G)! I already have enough pain as it is.. love & hugs to you dear friend!!!

When i was a child i also suffered from the hands of DIAL UP. I still remember, sometimes it take hours just to connect then when it's connected i can't visit any site. Well just have to reconnect again. But now it's just only a memory and i won't let it happen again. =D

Hi there: yeah it really really sucks to be back on stinky slow dial up! With all of today's technology you'd think they'd figure out a way to get it to work a bit better by now you know? I swore I'd not lose my DSL but things never work out for me the way I want them too in life... thanks for stopping by, sorry it took me so long to get back to this discussion!!

i am so sorry to hear that you have to go back to dial up again and give up the DSL service... my house use ADSL service and i and my hubby had been using it since we get married in 2005... we are just fortunate that we can afford it all these times because both of us are working full time... i hope you can get back your ADSL service again soon in the future... take care and have a nice day...

Hi LIngli: Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, Stupid dial up takes up so much of my time now I forget to check on all of my discussions and like now its been two weeks since you posted, MY BAD!! I feel really bad .. Yeah I hope to be able to get it again someday here or something with a little giddy-up to it, I had dial up for 9+ years and HATED IT the whole time but its better than nothing but having SPEED is sure nice too...(G)! The things we get spoiled to in life right?? Glad you and your husband can afford it, it makes a difference having jobs and so on especially in this economy we are in; thanks for stopping by and sorry again its taken me so long to get back to you;

I am so sorry that you will have to go back to dial up. I had it at home and just oculd not stand it. It drove me crazy just waiting or I would get up and do something else and then forget I was on my laptop. Really sorry for you Jan. But please don't leave Mylot. It was to be online at home tha tinfluenced me in p[utting the blackberry on my credit card.

Hey dear friend; Oh don't worry, I'm not leaving mylot, I have my TV on most of the time, so I watch my shows while waiting for or doing other things; AT least now I will be able to take all my puter stuff back into the bedroom where its supposed to be, not sitting here on my kitchen table, the short DSL LINE I had it was too short to be in the back bedroom and there was no other phone hook up here at my new place, no money to install another one either so like I said I at least will regain my kitchen table back as soon as I transfer all this stuff back to the bedroom and rehook it all up (G)! Yippe Kay Aie!! NOT!!!!!!!!

I don't have a land line phone, so we have to have DSL. I go through comcast and it costs $85 a month for Cable and Internet! Not a very good price, but it is something that i feel like i need. Maybe in the future we will look into a cheaper company, but comcast doesn't make you sign a contract like other companies, so that is really convenient for me.

We had dial up many years ago and hated that we could not talk on the phone at the same time. As soon as DSL came around we jumped on it. We have had some issues with it but overall no problems. It does costs more but worth it since we use the internet for everything. To save money we recently cancelled our LAN line. There was no reason to keep it since we have cell phone and the long distance is free (we also cancelled our long distance). It saved us about $50 a month. Some DSL providers are better than others. Luckily ours has been pretty good.

HI Lulu: Sorry its taken me so long to get back here, like I just said to the last poster here, having dial up now is so freaking slow and then I forget about some of my discussions and just forgot all about this one, You'd think out of all of them I'd remember this one since I am constantly fussing at my SLOW DIAL UP service..(G)! The cell phone I have is a tracphone I've not had any money for minutes for it for months now, with my crappy health I really need to have it so I am hoping when my disability check comes this month I can get another card with minutes on it; everything just costs so much these days its just crazy!! I hope to someday again "soon" have DSL, it was sooo nice having speed while it lasted and its really spoiled me I'm afraid.. It took me last night to watch a silly animal video clip that didn't even last a minute but for dial up IT TOOK OVER A HALF HOUR...I KID YOU NOT!!! I was just so AMAZED!!, ANGRY but AMAZED at how slow it was... thanks for stopping by!!!

I have cable modem. Can't afford it but need it. I have only had a computer for 3 1/2 years and have always used DSL or cable modem. Dial up would drive me insane in the membrane. Can't have that going on. I have been racking my brain how I am going to pay some of my bills. I need to rob Peter to pay Paul, the problem is both Peter and Paul are both broke. I have problems, boohoo. Sorry that you have to say good bye to your old friend. Hopefully it won't be long till you can say hello again.

I'm poor too, I had to take a cash advance on a credit card to pay my bills this month, that sucks. But you do what you gotta do to keep on going. I am trying to cut down on all my bills too. My phone companies internet is super slow where I live, if you live a few blocks away they offer a much faster speed. BTW, did you check into that site I told you about? That might work out for you.

HI ya toots: No, I didn't see the site anywhere will have to go back to our PM'S and see if its there? I was wondering (G)! Well at least you have that creditcard to do a cash advance on that's good!! I think a lot of us are going to be downsizing in one way or another; it all blows! but we shall survive I guess, the Doc might have to "up my dosage" on some pills to keep me calm while I get used to DIAL UP AGAIN, but at least I can access the internet and so far the thing isn't freezing up on me, I swear there must've been something wrong with that other tower, processor whatever you want to call it, having to use dial up I'm back on my main processor that I had when I first bought my computer its ten years old now but I swear it has more UMPH that the one brother dearest brought to me over a year ago...it was set up for ethernet ( high speed) to where as mine is not...( sniff) oh well...life goes on right? but yeah when you get a minute PM me the site again PLLLEEASEE!! thanks!

HI ya Polly_doodle: Yeah that's what I hope to get next, if it ever gets set up here in this division I'm in now, ( the poor folks area) LOL! yeah it sucks, its not bad until I get to working on website stuff, then I get really upset at the slowness of it, and a lot of video's or movie clips or anything like that will just DRAG ON or not play right at all, now that part I WILL MISS..(sigh)! but what's a poor person to do right? Sorry you too are struggling right now, maybe your sales will pick up again soon for you?? take care dear friend,

HI Thoroughrob: I looked into Roadrunner too but its not available in my area, small town that I live in; Yeah a lot of us may have to resort to going back to basics on a lot of stuff, more than we already are; Good to see you here, whenever I see your name on other posts, at first glance I always think your name is thoroughbred..ROTFL! only because I'm a horse nut! I am sorry about that Jan I use DSL always have but here you just pay an Amount a Month and that is it and the Phone bill is separate, which in my case is very low, Dial up is very expensive here as it bumps up your Phone Bill drastically and I would not be able to be on line as long and often as I am Hugs

Hello Gabs: Oh that sounds interesting, with your DSL... So for you where you live dial up would be like a long distance charge or something? Man that would suck for sure... when I first got the internet I had WEBTV...and there was no service for it here in my small town, so I had HUGE PHONE BILLS...but I also had two jobs back then too but within less than a year my town started getting more internet services and a lot of them were for good old WEBTV....in a way that was a cool system, but I love my puter much better enough though now its fast becoming a relic.. I've sat here so long this morning, I need to get up out of this chair before I have to have it surgically removed...LOL! Have a great day!!

Oh no. I am so sorry you have to go back to dial up. If I had to go back to dial up I don't think I could handle it. Not just the speed of it do I love but we don't all have to take turns on the computer especially when my grandson is here and playing on the desktop or his laptop. When I had dial up I also had a 2nd phone line, one for home phone and one for the internet so when we switched to DSL it was cheaper in the long run.

Hi Tyc: How are you?? Yeah it sucks! I just have the one phone line, don't really care as I mostly get debt collector phone calls...LOL!! now all they will get is the busy signal HA! I really did enjoy DSL...and if my stupid TV/CAble EVER gets it set up here in this division I'm in, then I can get it through the cable line and not the phone line; but they don't have it set up here, even though back in scumbagville ( my last place of residence) they had it there at the last...GO FIGURE..now ain't that just stupid?? really stupid!! oh well, good to see you!! {{hugs }}

I had Verizon DSL for a couple years. Then when we moved I got Netzero dial up for a little while. Sadly the dial up was not that much cheaper than the DSL. Now I've upgraded to cable. The cable isn't as fast as the DSL was, but Verizon is no longer available in my area.

HI Kats: Netzero is what I am using now, free/for the first month then $9.95 a month I was using AT&T DSL..for $35.00 just can't handle it anymore; The place I have my cable with, in some area's here in my town they have the CAble HIGH SPEED or whatever its called but guess what?? Not available in my area of town due to the fact I guess because its a section of housing authority...pffftt! oh well...

I have a wired globe broadband that only costs P1295 a month that's only equivalent to $28. I also bought a USB-powered modem from the same company the globe tattoo, its much faster than dial-up. The unit only cost me P2000 one time payment and just load it P100 every month, I use it whenever I travel. There are a lot of options better than dial-up, you should look around to see the package that fits your budget. They now have new technology which is the air card.

I noticed you said that you had more trouble after you loaded up IE8. I've learned that when microsoft tells me that I have a new update to download, I check out the update first, and then I go on line to the microsoft forum or windows forum to see if anybody else downloaded IE8, and see if they had any problem. When I checked on IE8, I read that alot of people had problems, therefore I opted out of downloading this. So, maybe in the future, you may want to check in the forums for possible problems before downloading anything.

HI Sweetchariot: You know you are so right I used to do that very thing all the time, then I got lazy about the updates over the years, I need to start doing that again in fact I used to only do the updates that pertained to what I had on my system and that way I didn't have "crap" on here downloaded that I did not need or have a clue as to what the heck it is, I call them microsoft's spyware's too; they are sooo nosy about everything we run and do on here; so yes I do need to make changes right now on the updates; thank you for giving me that wake up call...(G)! I have fast access DSL. My phone bill wasn't that high this time. I was shocked. It was just $34.67. I don't know why it's cheaper. My computer has been a little slow here lately. Hi Jan! It seems like I'm always broke, too, lol! It has been very hot here today,up in the 90s! I waited till the sun went down to sweep off my carport. It had a lot of limbs and debris from the recent storms we've had. I still got hot but probably not as hot as I would have if I had done it earlier. It still had to be done, though. We're having a rodeo this weekend to benefit the EASI program and I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to be working at our booth both Friday and Saturday night, selling t-shirts. We've been having one every year since we started the program in 2006. Those of us who volunteer will get in free of charge but we will have to pay for our food. We had drill team practice out there Tuesday and it went very well. We started out with four people but two had to drop out. So it's just another girl and myself. Right now, we're a little bit confused but I think it's all going to work out. We've been having practice every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., before it gets so hot. It gets pretty hot during that time, though. When we get good at it, we're going to perform at a rodeo or put on a show somewhere. It's been a lot of fun! Kathy.
