Thinking about gettng a new camera, can anyone give a good suggestion? | | I bought a camera about a year ago. It's digital but it's not very good for zooming in and other fun things. It's an okay camera but I just would like something that can capture better pictures. It should be able to zoom and be clear. I would also like something that takes clear pictures with good color. Does anyone have a decent camera that didn't cost an arm and a leg? Can anyone tell me some suggestions on what I should choose?

Canon EOS 1000D with the ordinary lens and a 200m extra lens, which I did buy and I love it, its a great little camera....then I bought closeup filters from Ebay...I am very happy with my camera.

ddhawkins63 (340) | 7 months ago | Thank you for the advice. May I ask how much you spent on that? I am really looking for something that I can capture great pics of my grandbabies and when we travel. I don't want the shots that look like I took them from a cheapo camera but I am a cheapo person haha. I want to spend the least amount possible.

lilaclady (19681) | 7 months ago | Well I went a little over budget but i thought I was going to get the camera I had always wanted plus I bought a extra battery, extra large memory card and I also bought a monopod with little detachable legs and it all cost me $2500.....a lot of money but i don't regret it for one minute...

ddhawkins63 (340) | 7 months ago | Oh wow, that is a bit much for me. You sound like you use it professionally though. I am not looking for that, I am just looking to take quality, pretty pictures of my travels and my grandbabies, you know. Thanks for your help though. Sounds like you got exactly what you needed.

Also, if you want to take good pictures with zoom, I would recommend buying a tripod with your camera if you don't already have one.
As for the camera itself, like I said, it depends on a lot of factors. I currently have a Fuji Finepix S1000, which is a lovely camera. It's not as user-friendly as the Kodak cameras (it's meant strictly for photography and it gets its job done well). It's got 10 megapixels and 12x zoom and cost me $250. The 10 MP make the pictures look FANTASTIC (or they do compared to the 5MP camera I had before this one).
Before the Fuji, I was using two Kodaks that belonged to other people. One was a Z750 and the other a Z640. Both were very good, reliable cameras with around 5MP (the Z640 might've been 7MP) and 10x zoom. They took wonderful pictures and were extremely easy to use. Even my grandparents could use the Kodak and they're very technology illiterate. Trouble is, those both were in the same range as my Fuji camera. I think they might've been around $200.

ddhawkins63 (340) | 7 months ago | Thank you for the great information. I will keep it in mind. $200 sounds like a good price range for me. I don't want to go overboard. I used to have a really great camera and it got stolen out of my vehicle when I was away and forgot to take it in with me. Oh well, that happens I guess. Thanks for the information!!
