I am trying to use the money in my paypal account to buy a gift card from a company that does not accept paypal.
So I go to ebay and I find a $50 gift card that is going for $62 but it has free shipping
! What a deal! Then a find another gift card for $25 that is going for $34.99 with free shipping!
What is the deal on this? Would you buy these items? Why would someone do this?

Ummmm are the cards collector's items or something? That just plan sounds stupid to me, maybe we're missing something but why would you pay more for something that has a set face value? Guess some people are just addicted to ebay bids or something. Need to start a 'bidders anomous' or something.
Hey I have a $5 Walmart card maybe I could get 7 or 8 for it :)

I would not buy these things. I would transfer my PayPal to my checking account and go to a local store and buy a gift card of my choice. I cannot figure out the upgraded cost of gift cards on e bay. It does not sound like a bargain to me. If a company does not do Pay Pal I often will not do business with them.

The problem is this is a gift for my husband. Any extra money would go on a bill and I don't want that to happen.

You sure can...many credit cards offer warranties and help if a transaction goes bad. I know, I have used it...I used a card to buy a TV, it crapped out 48 hours out of warranty. A few phone calls and some threats and the company fixed. The repair cost over twice as much as the TV.

Sorry I might be dense, but cannot make sense of that. Well even counting on the fact that I would get free shipping... which would not be, since I would already be paying 10 or 12 dollars more over the price of the card...ok no matter which way I'm looking at it it doesn't make sense.
Maybe after I post this and see the rest of the responses I will understand, but so far....nope , no sense at all to me :)

The deal is, there is no deal. These must be people who bought these gift cards, and no longer want them. They don't want to take a hit on what they purchased, so they upped the price just a little in order to make some profit. I don't know anyone that would buy these things though, when they could just go to the store and get them for the flat price.
Worse yet, maybe these are people who got them for free (maybe gifts, maybe stolen) and they want to make a good amount of money on them.
I would be skeptical of buying a gift card from a user on e-bay anyway. You never know if the money was already spent, or if they took the information on the card to use it before you can get to it.
To solve your dilemma, do you have a Paypal Debit Card? Since it works just like any other debit card, you could use that on the site instead of trying to use your Paypal ID.

. . . Bidders Anonymous!!! That's too funny BFO.
