What is your favorite kind of Italian food?

I love most Italian food. Spaghetti is great. My very favorite, though, is lasagna. I love to make it myself in a large pan so that some is left over to freeze. It tastes even more delicious reheated!

I love lasagne too, as well as ravioli, spaghetti, totellini, minestrone (is that Italian??) and fettucini alfredo. I guess I like all Italian foods. Omit the olives though, although that is traditionally Greek. And go easy on the bell peppers. LOL

Italian cuisine is very versatile and can be adapted by each cook as a touch of their own. I love making homemade spaghetti sauce, although I haven't made it in quite a while.Minestrone sounds like an Italian name-that's why I said that. I will have to look it up. I have never made a homamde pot of it, although I am sure it is delicious and fairly easy? What do you put in yours?

Homemade minestrone can be tailored to your own tastes. I use chicken stock and tomato juice (stock can be left out if one is vegetarian or vegan) several kinds of dried beans, some very finely chopped spinach or other greens, and then whichever veggies and spices you prefer--fresh chopped tomatoes, diced carrots, onions, etc! It can simmer away for hours in the crock pot, and be served with crusty bread...I put parmesan cheese on top of the minestrone when serving it. It reheats or freezes well, too.@PeacefulWmn9 (10420)

Hi Princess. I love all of the dishes you've mentioned, too. The beauty of Italian is that you can switch the recipes around to suit your own tastes. And I think mistrone is italian lol. I love to make it from scratch in the crockpot, and have it with hot home-made chunks of bread. sooo good!

I would say Olive Garden! LOL. It's a good place to eat. I love it. I would eat there every day if I could. I think I would get sick off of eating it though. I'm not saying it will get you sick or anything. I would be sick of it. :)

Now there's a perfect idea, Melbee! Whatever kind of Italian one likes or a bit of everything...all under one roof. And someone else gets to do the preparation and cleanup lol.

Hi Karen.....I would have to say my favorite Italian food in stuffed shells.
I don't make them to often becasue I really tend to over eat when I do and so does the family.
So I usually leave them to make on a special occassion.

Mmm, yum. A friend of mine makes stuffed shells and bakes them. It is very easy to just keep eating them, even when one feels full! I can see why you'd make them for special occasions only LOL. Thank you for sharing your preference.

Your choice is a good choice! Lasagna is a must! and you're definetely right for the reheating speech: it's better!
Otherwise, also for me lasagna is my favourite dish, farther pizza!!!

I would have to agree with the majority and say Lasagna I just love it
I make a pan of it about once a month and I usually make a huge pan I put spinich in mine as well as ricotta and 4 different cheeses, I use ground turkey instead of ground beef it tastes just as good with half the fat and grease. I was just telling my son today I was going to make some tomorrow .
I also like to make this dish because it lasts for a couple of days or so I don't freeze it because there is never any left to freeze!
I usually serve it with a nice garden salad sometimes I have the Texas Cheese and Garlic Toast with it

Hello Cherry. Yummy! You make it like my mom does, and yes, it's healthier and totally delicious. Like you, I always make a huge pan, and for only two of us now, there is some for leftovers and some to freeze. Tastes just as good, or even better, as the first time around. And you're right. A crisp salad and some form of hot bread are perfect with lasagna.
Hm, maybe that will be tomorrow night's dinner!

my favorite type of Italian food would probably be penne alla vodka. it is so delicious and I eat it whenever I have a chance to make it :p Delicious creaminess. I think ill make it for dinner tonight. First I have to buy some pasta

I will have to go with lasagna as well, although I do like baked ziti, and I also like some of the chicken Parmesan and I like spaghetti as well.

I love pasta.all kinds of pasta.I love spaghetti,ziti,macaroni,linguine..just all pasta.I love pasta with lots of cheese.I love seafood marinara pasta.the best pasta in the whole world.

I can identify with your love of pasta. It is versatile and cooks so quickly. One can put any kind of sauce, meat, or veggies with it and have a healthy meal in no time. Up with pasta :)

i guess we both have the same sense of taste. lasagna is my favorite. spaghetti is very common but tastes good as well. it is served mostly during special occasions and sometimes even without any occasion.

I like most Italian food but my preferred has to be lasagna and chicken parmesan. I also like raviolis. My favorite ice cream is spumoni.
