Have you ever had bad weather on vacation?

When I visit a place after it has suffered a cyclone the weather has been cool and quite dull. I went to the Cook Islands and saw damage that the high winds had caused. In Belize the local people explained they had a cold snap. It was over twenty degrees and the sky wasn't as blue as it usually is in the tropics. I thought if they wanted to know what a cold snap is fly to England in January. Ha, ha. Have you ever had bad weather on vacation? Did it bother you?

hi there maximax... pretty interesting question to me:) well i was with friends trekking!! we were at quiet an altitude, about like nearly 10,000 feet and it was cold!! we had no rain gear and we were in our warm jackets when all of a sudden it started to rain!! OMG!! we were careless enough to carry the rain gear along and there we were with out only jackets getting wet! it was scary coz in a trekking you don't have a shelter point close by, and so we had to walk for 3 kms in the rain to get some shelter, that was so cold!! but luckily no one got sick!! thanks to GOD

Hi there Voldrox. Your response was exciting to read. It think it must have been scary to be at such high altitude in the pouring rain. It was lucky you had your jackets on. You must have been wondering when your group would manage to get some shelter. I have done much trekking in New Zealand and luckily it was dry.

I had the worst weather ever the last time I went to Florida. I was going to spend 2 weeks with a niece and would be at a resort in Orlando for a week. Marcela took me there and we had planned on her coming to take me back to Miami next weekend. She would enjoy with me all the niceties of the resort and Orlando. As it was, hurricane Charlie came by. It missed where I was for 2 blocks. Marcela came on a weekday after work to get me amid tropical rain, trees in the road, wind and torn apart houses. The only luxury she had was a bubble bath at a jacuzzi (She said that she would NOT skip that). I gave her food, packed in such a hurry that I left part of my clothes in a drawer I overlooked. It was a sort of adventure in a way. My worst problem was with Marcela. She didn“t sleep for more than 24 hours nonstop, the sweet girl. I made up with her the only way I know: I cooked lots of good things to eat the next week and filled her freezer with ready to heat meals.

That must have been a terrible trip due to the dire weather conditions in Florida my dear friend. Photos I have seen of it show blue skies and gently waving palm trees. It must have been quite a shock for you and your niece to be affected by Hurricane Charlie. It must have been upsetting to pack in such a hurry that you left some things behind. It was great you made up for the miserable time with your excellent cooking. Hug.

Hello max, as you can possibly tell, I'm slowly working through my emails, it's a long process. To answer your question, I'd have to say no, the weather overall never worries me greatly. I would get frustrated on the day, if the weather went against my plans for thet day, but never let it spoil a whole holiday. However, shortly after my divorce I took my children (with their mother's approval) to Linderman Island on the Great Barrier Reef for a ten day vacation. It rained for the firdst week, so I dacided to stay a further three days as the weather was perfect. Although these extra days were within my access time, my exwife notified social security that I had broken my access because they were out of the state for longer than she had agreed to. So yes, that did bother me.

Yes....not to that extent but bad storm warnings....and last week I was supposed to go to my camper with my sister for a few days but they had sever storm watches....the day before we were supposed to go there was tornados there. So we opted to just stay at her house and scrapbook.

You were so sensible to stay at home instead of risk going out in your camper into a severe storm. In Australia I put on my bathing costume on a hot day and with another lady went on a canoe trip. It was fine going but it cold cold and stormy coming back. The water inlet got rough and so we came back along the edge to be sure we wouldn't have problems if we got tossed out of the canoe.

Wehad a little bit of bad weather when we went to Antigua - it was way out of hurricane season and we'd chosen that island because of the lesser chance of storms and lo and behold there was rain a couple of days which was not happy about as we were on the island to get married! It didn't rain on the actual ceremony though and we had the smallest shower ever whilst signing the paperwork so this was ok!!

That is what I hate the most. A bad weather ruined a good trip. I don't like to travel some place where you get raining the whole time. Basically, you can't go anywhere. I rather postpone the trip, and go somewhere else. Other than that, I love to enjoy the sun, and the beach in a good vacation spot.

Raining all the time can be an annoying weather pattern. On the South Island of New Zealand at a village south of Christchurch it rained constantly and a bridge broke. It was mended fairly quickly. It wasn't any fun to get soaked through though.
