EGG, Do u consider it veg. or non veg!! |
| |
| I'm a vegaetarian. Just while going through some older posts, one question which was there from long time in my mind, poped up again. Do you consider egg to be veg or non veg. I know now there are lots of definations of being veg, lacto veggie, octo lacto veggie, n some more like that...I 'm not very sure. Veggie, who donot eat meat who do not eat eggs too who do not take dairy products too who do not take, onion n garlic too(yep there are some) If u are vegetarian, which type are you??/ | | | | | |

| | This is an interesting question. Lots of debates are going on in this topic. There are people who call themeselves 'vegetarians' and eat egg. There are vegetariams who don't eat egg. I think an egg is non-vegetarian when it is hatched, otherwise it is veg. The problem is how to find out a eggg is hatched or not just by looking on it. | | | | | | |

| | Hey myself too, a vegetarian who eats eggs. Earlier was not eating eggs too, but felt there's not enough source of protein in our veggies diet, n kids do need all nutrients. So now recently started having eggs. | | | |

| | Well I think vegetarians eat them but vegans do not. A vegan is a much more strict vegetarian, while vegetarians might consume animal products, like milk, vegans will not eat anything that is animal related what so ever. So vegetarians can eat eggs, but vegans do not. | | | | | | |

| | i m also a vegeteraian but i eat egg. It is a very difficult question that egg is a vegeterain or non vegaterian but according to me approx. 30 % vegaterain people eat eggs and they think still say that they are veg. as i did. So as per me egg should be considered as veg. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think egg is a vegetable simply because it is not planted. I think it's more like a dairy product unless it becomes chicken or balot. If i will become a vegetarian, i think i should be the one who still eats dairy products. I don't think i can stop eating them since cheese, milk, ice cream and many more and it's pretty hard for me not to stop eating them. It's something i won't be able to resist. | | | | | | |

| | yeah! i agree, being a vegetarian has no constraints or limitations as to eat egg or not, for me as a vegetarian means you eat more percentage of vegetables rather than meat, or any other not belonging to the earlier category, in other words you eat more vegetables than egg he he he! i hope i make you enjoy with this comment. okay! thank you and enjoy here in mylotting! | | | |

| | I am not a vegetarian... so I can't answer which vegetarian I am, coz I just love eating almost anything. However, with regards to your question on whether I consider egg to be vegetarian or not... My answer is, I don't think it's a vegetarian. I am not sure though, as am not really familiar on the classification of foods. But my basis to this, is, egg is not something we plant. I hope I am making sense though. Happy Mylotting :-) | | | | | | |

| | I am not vegetarian but I found very amusing arguments by vegetarians who try to justify what they eat by calling them "vegetarian" even though these foods are obviously not plants. I read that Bengalis call fish "river vegetables". And yes, there are different types of vegetarians--ovo-vegetarians (they eat fruits and vegetable and eggs), lacto-vegetarians (include milk products in their diet), lacto-ovo vegetarians (include both eggs and milk products in their diet), fruitarians (eat only fruit, nuts and seeds but not the roots of plants) and vegans (eat only plant food, no milk, no eggs). I wonder what all these classifications are for? Here is a link to a site that lists some arguments of pro-egg eating vegetarians--http://news.in.msn.com/co... Enjoy your meals, vegetarian or not! | | | | | | |

| | I consider myself both vegetarian and meat lover. I am in no way put away red meat as part of my protein meal. About the egg question, it is not a vegetable. Obviously it came from chicken and it is part of dairy product. All products that contain egg is somewhat considered not vegetarian. But for me, I eat all dairy products. I can be vegetarian in a sense that I love vegetables and eat it. But I am not a solid vegetarian like the rest I know who really does not eat meat at all. About the onion and garlic, well these are considered as veggies right? I don't think that being vegetarian shouldn't be a hassle eating such. It is part of vegetable family, whether vegetarians or not, they will surely be eaten when sauteed or not. | | | | | | |

| | Yep, oinion and garlic are veggies. But i know group of people "JAIN's", who doesn't even eat onion n garlic. And in india you can find Jain food in resturant menus too, that means food doesn't have onion and garlic. They are pure vegitarian's n even killing a mosquito or an ant, they consider as a sin. | | | |

| | I say i am a vegetarian but still eats Egg in the form of Cakes and Ommlettes. I suppose not all the eggs are being hatched and most of them are Machine made is my opinion about Eggs and I am not sure about that. I came to know that not all the eggs that are being sold in the markets can be hatched and only certain eggs can be hatched. So i still ponder upon this topic whether Egg is a vegetarian or not. I am a kind of Vegetarian who takes Egg in the forms of Chocolates, Cakes and sometimes Ommlette. I take all kind of Dairy products, Onion and garlic. | | | | | | |
