Life's Not Fair | | Life doesn't treat everyone the same way. For some, it is as if their roads are paved with satin gold - every step just falls into place and the journey is a smooth one, except with the most minor of infractions.
For the second lot of people, life deals with it, at every corner, some form of pitfall or other. Nothing comes easy. Struggle rules the day. Failure stomps its feet. Calamity strikes. Money is never enough. Friends aren't easy to come by. Criticism is abundant. Stress abounds and life seems too much to tolerate.
What do you do then? When failure haunts you. When your plans fail, when things don't come easy - what do you do? Do you fall down to your feet and cry? Or, do you stand up and fight?

What we can do is pick up the broken pieces, face life challenges ahead with courage and faith that there is a brighter future ahead. Just remember, no matter how hard life may be, things will change for better one day. Just think about people who has nothing at all and still they continue to live on what they have.

| | 3. CatsandDogs (5171) | 7 months ago | I have to say that it really depends on the situation. Like for instance, when my mother was sick last year when she had a brain stem stroke and made a turn for the worse, I collapsed on the floor and just cried my heart out. I haven't cried like that in so many years so you can imagine the heartache I felt at that time. Then another time is when my nephew lies on my husband and my brother chooses to believe him over our dad and myself when we were there and know better, that's when I got angry and angry as HELL!! Now if it were a situation of having a flat tire on our last rounds of getting debris out of our woods, we just laughed it off and took a tire off of one trailer and put it on the other and continued on. Life does have it's challenges, no doubt, but it's how you handle them after the fact is what counts for anything. Having a good cry is good for the soul although not a good situation though but it does relieve the pressure and weight some then if we get back up and dust ourselves off and continue on, we're doing quite alright.

zandi458 (6028) | 7 months ago | Hi Cats, so how is your mum doing? My dad suffered brain stem stroke and organs failure and did not survive two years ago. It has been a great blow to my life as he was close to me and my life is never the same again with the loss of my father and my mentor. But obstacles in life will uncover things about ourselves that we never knew. Challenges make us stretch, they make us go beyond the norm.

CatsandDogs (5171) | 7 months ago | Hi zandi, thank you for asking about my mom. She's very depressed because she used to be so independent and now she's not. She's right handed and it's mainly her right side that was affected. She can just barely write but it's almost unreadable. Her broken rib is healing but still grabs her at times but she is getting better all the way around but it's "oh so slow" process. Bless your heart! I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! We almost lost mom three times but luckily with us being there A LOT like we were, she got better treatment than she would have. I almost got arrested a few times because I wouldn't take the nurses or doctors crap so they found out in a hurry that I wasn't going to take any of it except the best of care because although it's not their mom and yes she's lived her life, she's MY mom and will get the best of treatment that she deserves! But all in all, it is what it is. But for you please accept my condolences on your dad and please know that he loved you so very much and is very proud of you!! I have no doubt that he's watching over you right this very moment!!

| | 4. savypat (7887) | 7 months ago | Myself, when nothing goes right, I know I need to step back and take another look, maybe reset my course. This is where getting out the pen and paper help. Write lists of pros and cons and things that you wish to happen, what you think you can control. This is an enlightening thing to do at anytime but when life just seems to be difficult is a very necessary tool. I have reset my life many times, the goals i started out with just were not what life is about for me. No one knows how bad things have gotten at times, I didn't feel I could share this with anyone, but when I just let go and asked for direction instead of trying to control I found a road. Good luck to you. Remember when you ask you must be prepared to listen.

zandi458 (6028) | 7 months ago | We are always faced with the natural blows in life. Life may not always be fair but it is never dull. There are bound to be disappointments but God has given us the brain and strength to reset our life and that is what exactly you are doing to amend and change the course of your life to achieve your dreams.

One just gets depressed if you keep looking back.

| | 6. mechanicNOT62 (1590) | 7 months ago | I've known a couple of ladies that were married more than twice and each husband passed on before them. They had more money than they knew what to do with it. By their own admission, they had no idea of what a tough life was like.
I've known others who have worked smart and worked hard but have been rewarded poorly in life and known a lot of misfortune.
It's hard to understand, since it is said that "you reap what you have sown."
I don't cry about my failures, but I do wonder, and ask what I could have done to change the course.

mechanicNOT62 (1590) | 7 months ago | I'm sorry, I've been having troubles at MyLot and don't even know if this will come through, but I couldn't even work it before. Anyway; you say "life is a mystery." I think that's an understatement but I doubt that I could improve on it.
The ladies I mentioned paid a toll for their winnings, they had to lose their husbands! And good ladies that they were, they suffered at their loss. So there's always a toll. BUT once you get past a phase you always find another, and that's where the mystery appears, we don't know what that phase might be made of.
It's like those fortunate people that win great big fortunes and then have to decide who to hide from and how. Poor people may not have such high profile decissions to make, but may have to worry about how to feed and dress the little ones, and how to protect and heal them. Next phases are unavoidable.
A person might look back and lament a certain decission, but then should also stop and wonder, "if I had taken the alternative route, what might have been the alternative results?" FORGET IT! Not worth it.
Once I had the strangest, most unusual dream: I dreamed that my X was leaving my presence and she turned and spoke a series of numbers (!) When I woke up I felt strange, because 1) we were divorced, 2) I never dreamed about her, 3) I never dreamed numbers, AND 4) I hardly ever remembered my dreams!!!
I decided I should play the Loto, so I rushed after work and found the sale was closed, so I couldn't play. Next day I checked if those numbers had come out, but they hadn't. Get ready for the clincher:::
THEN I WONDERED, "IF I HAD PLAYED... would theose numbers have come out?"
Go ahead and shoot me; they shoot horses don't they?

| | 7. barehugs (3983) | 7 months ago | Each person creates his/her own life. Life is exactly as we create it. Each second of our lives is our creation. There are no accidents, or happenings, its all part of the Grand Design. The Grand design includes our wants and needs. Its all there for us, if and when we decide to create it. To prove this theory, talk to a successful person. This person will tell you that his/ her success was no accident. And you can accept his/her testimony as Fact.

zandi458 (6028) | 7 months ago | I agree with you. Be a believer and you be an achiever. Act confidently, it helps you to think confidently. We cannot control circumstances but we can be the architect of circumstances. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? But it is true. It has been proven by many living examples. One fine example is Abraham Lincoln who was a self-made man. Though he was poor, he studied law on his own and rose to become America's President. He went from a log cabin to the white house. He was also responsible for abolishing slavery in United States.

| | 9. rogue13xmen13 (7311) | 7 months ago | Life is certainly not fair. You have to be smart and get ahead, be a hardworker, be bold or brave, or you have to take life as it comes. Life is literally what you make of it. If you want to have it all, you can, you just have to be smart and work hard for it, if you want a medicore life, you just have to work hard, if you want nothing at all, then you will get nothing.
Now, there are those who inherit what they have, but how long to do think that will last them? Not long. How happy do you think that they will be? Not very happy at all.
Now, as for those who keep getting beaten down, and they feel and you feel that they do not deserve it, there is a reason that it is happening, they have to find out what it is and solve it.
Life is the great mystery, the great challenge, the great everything, and the great unknown. Sometimes it is predictable, and sometimes you do not know what will happen, but that is the beauty of life. Life is life.

zandi458 (6028) | 7 months ago | You put that right. It is essential to have high esteem, since the world will identify you with the same price tag that you set on yourself. I think the main factor in life is to think positive. No matter how bad a problem may seem to surface, if you remain positive you will see how everything has worked out for the best.

I was always taught that things don't always come easy, there's always a price to pay, so till up to this day I always like a good challenge, its been like an inspiration. No matter what it could be, best way to handle things might be to enjoy it, even though u think u won't, but u can always do it in such a way that u do enjoy doing things, and those other sticky situations, there's always the choice of talking to somone and letting things out
