Girls: does the ring have to have diamonds?

I don't mind if it's diamond or not, the important is it's the thought that counts.
Actually i don't have an engagement ring, instead my hubby bought me a house.
And i got a diamond ring last xmas from him. I love it, it's so cute and it sparkle,something to brag with friends lolz.

i would be happy with an alternative. diamonds are nice, but sometimes in order to get the one you can afford you have to get a smaller one. if you get an alternative stone, you can get one any size you want. also, there is a lot of controversy over how diamonds are mined and the human rights of the people mining diamonds. so if you get an alternative stone you might not have to feel as guilty about how your diamond was obtained. also, lately i have noticed a lot of engagement rings look really similar. either one big diamond with a bunch of little ones around the main stone, or a bigger diamond in the center with channel set diamonds on the band on either side of the main diamond. i would prefer to get a ring that doesn't look like everyone else's. i would just be mindful of the durability of the ring. you want it to last a lifetime, and some stones would not be good for a ring that you'll be wearing everyday.

It would depend on the ring! There are so many fine cuts and types of diamonds it would be hard to say no to that. But there are alot of other precious gems too. Saphires and Rubies and opals, oh my. So many beautiful antiques and family heirlooms that it is hard to say what would whisp me up and take me away.

I would really appreciate if my ring had a diamond but I would really go by the feelings so I would like anything that he get for me... Just as far as we are together nothing matters....

I love opals. they're my favourite stones. but as they are my favourite stones, I have a lot of jewellery with opals.

so when we chose my engagement ring together, I was keen to have a diamond, as I didn't have any diamond rings, so it would seem more to me like an engagement ring than like the other rings I have.

also, white gold and sparkly diamonds go with everything you have. and as it's something you don't take off, that's important.


but its up to a couple to choose the engagement ring. choosing one that they both like, that is comfortable and convenient to wear, and that everyone will enjoy for the rest of their lives.

I always thought that an engagement ring had to be a diamond. I guess not, though, because I've heard of some girls who preferred to have a different stone. I have known one or two women who said they didn't care for diamonds. I think they're pretty, myself. To me, it doesn't matter what color the stone is. Kathy.

My wedding ring has no stone. It is sterling silver in a Celtic knot design.I love all kinds of gemstones, I love color, so it would be cool to have anything. I knew someone who had an opal birthstone, and so asked to have that in her engagement ring.

For me it doesnt matter as long as it came from my significant other. I won't appreciate a diamond ring if it comes from someone who is not special to me. But come to think of it, it will really be nicer if I get a diamong ring from my special someone. lol

I'm not a diamond girl. I like the fact that my fiance and my birthstone is on my engagement ring. It feels that much more special to me. I don't really understand jewelry
lingo anyway so the simpler the better for me, especially as I am not a jewelry type of girl either way.

I prefer diamonds myself not that i'm expecting to get any new rings.I BELIEVE THOSE DAYS ARE OVER.
