Girls: does the ring have to have diamonds?

for me, it doesn't have to have diamonds. i would be as happy with any kind of ring or any stone in the ring. i wouldn't mind not having a ring even. sure i would love a ring, a diamond even... but that's not my reason for being with the guy or to get engaged with him... so that's one thing i could do without. i have simple joys in life, so material value is not a major concern.

Every inlove woman would like to receive a diamond ring from the person she loves...though, personally, any ring will do...as long as it came from the person i want to marry with.

if it's an engagement ring, i believe so. diamonds are every girl's bestfriend. diamonds are irresistible stones. they are timeless. i can't think of another stone on my engagement ring. it should only be diamond for me. i hope my current boyfriend reads this. haha.

I am not choosy when it comes to gifts for me such as an engagement ring. For as long as he was able to choose a nice one and was able to give it to me then I am fine with it. Everybody has a story behind why they chose the specific engagement ring and besides the most important thing is your engaged!

My wedding ring is just a plain gold band, something that I preferred to precious stones. I tend to get caught up in my work, and most of the time don't take care of my rings. I've lost a number of stones (topaz, sapphire) on my other rings before.

If you are referring to an engagement ring, then yes, if you are going to put stones in an engagement ring, it should be diamond. Otherwise, go with the plain band. Diamond means: forever.

To me diamonds are boring. I love something with color. My wedding bad will be my grandfathers gold ring with a starburst ruby in the center. It has 4 small diamonds but you can barely see them. The ruby is the real treasure for me.

Not for me...I actually don't like diamonds. I would much rather have a precious stone, or a upgraded birthstone ring....simple with no diamonds attached to it. Don't like all that glitter.

No, I don't need a diamond at all. I'm not really big on jewelry. If the guy wanted to get me a plain band, I'm okay with that. In fact, I'd probably just prefer to have the wedding band during the ceremony, and no engagement ring. I would feel badly about him spending money on me.

hi UK_Shree, my now husband didnt buy me an engagement ring with diamonds and frankly, I wouldnt have wanted one had he asked me.
We decided back then to already buy our wedding bands and just let name and marriage date be engraved when its time to. We both wore these gold bands as engagement rings. I am not a jewelry person anyways so that was not even a question here
