Stealing Thunder...LONG discussion |
| |
| Its an old saying. as when someone does something to be noted, someone else takes away the noteriety..does it better, gets more attention, etc. any way since the death of these 2 icons in entertainment im sorry to say its just one more discussion about them. i imagine a FEW may still feel like talking about them. son has not been able to sleep and i've been having trouble with it. so, we are still talking about them. Of course i mean Farrah Fawcett and Micheal Jackson. hence my name for this discussion. when i heard about Farrah was going to die i cried i've been an admirer of her talent for many years.i turned on the news on the day of her death and heard she had died at 9am. i was very sad and they were having all kinds of things on tv about her brilliant career. Then, in the afternoon, it was all over the news that Micheal had died. yes, he stole the poor womans thunder (I know he didnt mean to, but he did) now, since Farrah was my age and Micheal not much older than my son, here we are both greiving for these very talented people. what a sad thing to have your thunder taken away on the day you die. that would be my luck for sure. In any case, have you ever had your thunder stolen? is there still anything left to say about these great entertainers? my son thinks Micheal deliberately decided it was time. he was 50yrs and he had Peter Pan syndrome. could it be he wanted to go out with a bang before he got any older? and poor Farrah she loved life and held on with all she had. | | | | | |

| | It's a mercy, really, Bunnybon. Farrah's family can grieve in privacy now and all the media vultures will be harassing the Jackson family--which is awful, but Farrah can be buried with dignity and her family won't be subjected to the agony of helicopters circling the cemetery and reporters attacking the family on the road and at their homes. I'm sorry for the Jackson family, though, having the brunt of the media coverage, people taking photos through the windows of their homes, calling them constantly--we really should set some limits on how much the media can invade someone's privacy. Not restrict their speech, but impose some manners and common human decency. | | | | | | |

| | you are so right. i felt so sorry for how people have treated them in the name of being fans. why cant they just show their condolences. and leave the family greive. disgustingly i even saw a pic of Micheal on the stretcher in one news item. thats just wrong.so, your right at least it gives farrahs family a break, | | | |

| | Hey, I think that Michael had every intention of going on with his concert tour to London, as I heard on the radio that he was working on his dance moves days before he died. I also heard that he was using prescribed medications, and that they may have been overdosed to him. I doubt he took his own life on purpose. Anyway, I agree that Farrah and Michael were both very talented people. Have you ever had the chance to see the Lifetime Movie that Farrah starred in called, "The Burning Bed?" She plays as an abused housewife. If you can see it, I recommend it - Farrah was an amazing actress. Thanks. | | | | | | |

| | oh yes. i think i've seen all the ones she played. she was good. she also played in Precious Angels. the one where i think her name was Diane Downs?not sure. that killed 2 of her kids and crippled one in a car. she shot them, then said a man stopped them and did it. i thought she did a great job of that to. | | | |

| | Nobody seems to be remembering that Ed McMahon died the day before them... talk about stealing thunder. Plus, real people die every day. Heaven forbid someone's loved one has deid recently and all that is being over shadowed by the deaths of these celebrities. | | | | | | |

| | oh i know what you mean. my mom died a week after 911 and i was still sad for those people but realised first hand what they were going through. plus had to take a plane home for funeral. i thought they'd have to put me in there with her in the ground.everyone everywhere in the USA was greiving at the same time seemed like.yes, its just what i was telling a friend earlier, its like our entertainment people are dropping like flies, nearly one a week all summer long now. David carridene went i think the week before Ed Mcmahon. almost scared to see who's next. | | | |

| | My foster mom died days before Anna Nicole Smith did, possibly the day before. To this day, 2 years later, I'm still sick of hearing about Anna Nicole. She was a nobody so far as I'm concerned, just a stripper who married a rich man, how on earth she got as famous as she did is beyond me. My foster mom was far more important than that witch of a woman! | | | |

| | well, I've had a birthday ruined for years, and my favorite show had to repeat the first episode because nobody was watching anything but news the first night it showed, and all because of one man's death | | | | | | |

| | sorry to hear that. but a lot of us really loved his music. im not saying that everyone needs to morn him. they really should leave all the hype tho to the news and music channels so others can watch what they want. sorry about your birthday, wish i could give you a cake or something. no one celebrated? | | | |

| | i really think a lot of people dont realise how much he tried be of help to the poor. like with songs like "the man in the mirror" etc. and the "Black or White" song. he cared more about people than they did him. his music was all most cared about and the rumors that brought him down. | | | |

| | I don't believe for one minute that Michael Jackson died to steal the media attention from the death of Farrah Fawcett. Any more than I think that Farrah chose that day to die to steal the thunder from the passing of Ed McMahon who passed on the 23rd. With his upcoming concert tour, which I understand he was excited about, Michael had too much to live for. I really doubt if any of the 3 were ready to go. | | | | | | |

| | well no i dont think he meant to. sorry, not saying that he meant to. just saying it happened that way. oh for sure, i dont think my sons right about him choosing to die(Micheal), but i do wonder how he thought he'd be able to do a tour. almost all the last times he was seen in public he didnt look well and most of the time seemed to be getting support from people holding onto him. im wondering if he had to much stress from wanting to tour again so bad and worrying over it. | | | |

| | FF seems to me more of a tragedy, after fighting cancer to have lost her battle with it, my heart breaks thinking about it. (I lost both my grandma and mother to cancer, it is sad to see them go, especially when the treatment can be very bad and makes the patient weak, I am aware that this is all we have to fight cancer but I am as honest as I can be). And to top this off her son in jail, as a mom and daughter I feel bad for both of them. In MJ I do not feel he wanted to die, I think he did what he could to hang on to youth, but knowing he was raised as a Jehovah Witness I would say he fear death rather than he thought it was an exit. There is some power in thinking he had a choice about it, and he did, he could have made other choices in life but did not. I feel that what happened to MJ was a tragic accident and nothing more. I do not know if people have stolen my thunder or not, lol. I think when one of my cousins was expecting her first baby my aunt stole he thunder by expecting her last daughter, ooops! We talked more about my aunt than her, so go figure. | | | | | | |

| | I guess when you have someone who has as much power and money (in not in cash assets) like Michael Jackson, who in the heck is going to tell the man he is doing wrong you know? I guess he was around the wrong people, it seems all the time, because even that Doctor could not do anything to help him in a real way. | | | |

| | Oh I had thought the same thing about Farrah sort of being pushed to the back but I didn't say anything to anyone about it. I do wish that more would be said about Farrah as she was a fighter and tried her best to stay alive. Let's not forget about Ed McMahon either. | | | | | | |
