Do you think these mp3, IPod and other music devices .... |

Have a bad effect on people's ears?
I mean, yeah it's nice to get to listen to them once in a while, but having to put those earphones the whole day is like creating stress for your ear. You're like practicing to wearing hearing aids when you're older.
I don't like wearing earphones because after a few minutes, I don't feel comfortable anymore regardless if the earphone is of good quality and even if I like the songs.
I like songs played on real speakers away from my ears.
What do you think?

1. cassandralynn (875) | 5 months ago | I'm not crazy about listening to music threw head phone also, I like listening to music threw speakers . I have a Ipod that I mostly use with this boom box stereo I have that is made just for mp3 players, I just connect my ipod to the boom box and play my mp3's in stereo. The ear buds that comes with Ipods always fall out of my ear's and make my ear's ache.

3. robert67 (1344) | 5 months ago | i think people need to use common sense when listening to music through earphones. some people turn it up so loud that other people can hear it many yards away. this surely does the listeners hearing no good and it's irritating to hear it.
if people listen at a sensible volume then no damage will be done. i think it's up to the device manufacturer to limit the time that it can stay on a certain volume. there must be a way to do this as a safety measure.

4. chunijole (2865) | 5 months ago | I don't really have an mp3 or an Ipod player. But if I did, I guess I would just use them sometimes. I just prefer to listen to music on the speakers of my computer or home stereo system. Some people just listen to music on their earphones so loud I can actually hear the song lyrics. It drives me nuts.

| 5. iamJuNe2 (46) | 5 months ago | well, i listen to music a lot to distract myself sometimes from reality or just when im bored or something.
yes, in my own point of view, those type of music devices have disadvantages with regards to hearing. i can say this because i play my music a bit loud, but not so loud as to our neighbor hears it! lol^_^ because of this loud music, my hearing accommodation has raised and i cant even hear a whisper 2 feet away! huhuhu T_T
oh well, who's to be blamed but me? hehehe @_@
PS. The widely accepted range of human hearing is 20 Hz to 20 kHz!
Happy MYLOTTING!^_^

6. williamjisir (12728) | 5 months ago | Hello laydee. I totally agree with you that to play music on real speakers away from our ears will help protect our ears from wearing "hearing aids". I think that it damages our hearing if we use the earphones so often. I don't feel comfortable if I listen to music this way for some time. I do prefer to use the real speakers. I only use the earphones when I am traveling. Take care, friend.

| 7. JaysonDiwa (76) | 5 months ago | It's too dangerous if we play it loud through our earphones. Ears are sensitive, Playing loud volume may damage our hearing... So, better play it in a normal volume or much better in a lesser one...;-)

8. SomeCowgirl (7404) | 5 months ago | I think that the earphones do have a bad effect on one's hearing, especially when people turn the earphones up loud. Some of them are just not designed where you can hear what's being sung, or said easily. There are the newer ones that you wrap over your ear, and the actual speaker goes right at your ear. I think though that the best way to enjoy music is lying in bed, and just listening to it from speakers that are in the room.

9. dloveli (940) | 5 months ago | Honestly, I think that if you play them too loud it will cause hearing issues among other things. The type of ear phones used makes a difference. I also dont think they should be worn for long periods of time. Anything in moderation....dl

10. cobrateacher (4093) | 5 months ago | Hi, Laydee! Not only can these items cause damage to the ears when played too loudly; they damage relationships. Before we could carry our personal concert halls in our pockets, music was something of a social activity. We shared it with friends or strangers, and enjoyed being part of the audience, no matter how large or small. Now, MP3s isolate us. Unless we hook up speakers to them, they make our music entirely our own, and nobody knows what we might be hearing. Often, too, we have no idea what else is going on around us because our playlists block out most other things. It's really rather sad. Don't get me wrong; I love mine, and play it often, but not in social situations.
