|  A few months back my toaster oven broke. Because we use it quite often I decided I needed a new one. I don't remember the brand of our old one, but it served us well for about 6 years.
At the store I found so many brands and different models - which in reality are all basically the same thing and serving the same purpose -. I used price as a guide as well as how much space it had - since we need a bigger one - and how nice it looked ( I know irrelevant, but I'm allowed one irrelevant choice LOL -
I had read a few reviews before and when I saw that special Black & Decker model I liked it. It was roomy - big enough for all of us - it seemed to have what we needed. Ok , it was not the cheapest one, but it wasn't too expensive either, so I bought it.
It's not bad. It's not like it doesn't work or anything. But I can't believe that the numbers and little lines that mark everything on the front started disappearing in less of a month!!!!
I know that I have it over the stove so it does get some grease from cooking, but one day I'm cleaning it with a soft cloth and the numbers, and even the words ( toast, grill etc ) started rubbing off.
Give me a break! What did they right it with? Water markers?
I think a big company like Black & Decker could pay a little more attention to details and certainly make sure that the writing that actually guides us to temperatures etc. wouldn't rub off.
Did something like this ever happened to you? Wouldn't it make you angry?

| | You got it in just one sentence: "mainstream kitchen stuff is outdated and inadequate in general" That all of it is basically the same thing just with different looks I expect, but that lettering comes off .. that I wasn't counting on LOL

| |  Yes this sort of thing has happened to me but with a cheaper brand not with a well known brand like that one
I do hope you have written to them and do you have Guarantee on it as I would take it back and demand for it to be exchanged
It is terrible that a big Company like that can not provide the service you pay for

| |  Never had this happen that I can think of, well except for the letters on my laptop keys starting to wear off but I type without looking anyway... I would however be in big trouble with something like a toaster or worse microwave I would be in big trouble - I know where the 'popcorn' button is on the micro, I'd be playing Russian Roulette while cooking :(

| |  It is not surprising. Contact B&D, ask them for a new knob and spray it with a few coats of lacquer before using it.
What I hate are the clock radios...teeny tiny print, black on black....I hate changing my wake=up time.
