Is it hard to forgive?Why?

Hi, I guess the only way we can insulate ourselves against being hurt is to completely remove ourselves from the possibility of it happening. I heard once that 'unforgiveness' is a choice we make with the will, and it's a bad choice, not only for the cause of Christ, but also for the one who refuses to forgive. It is easier said than done, isn't it? It was Jesus who spoke on the necessity of forgiveness this way: "And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses" (Matt. 18:34,35).

I sometimes feel that it is hard to forgive someone. And I feel it especially when I am still hurting and the pain is still there in my heart. But I guess, this is the only way for me to feel light and to ease the pain I feel, to forgive and to work things out.

Hi lean, It depends on the hurts you received. If the wounds are so deep that it affect our heart, it is so hard to forgive. It is easy to say, 'forgive' but if you are the wounded party then it is very hard to do so. You need the Grace of God to forgive for the wound heals but the scar remains. Our Lord Jesus was whipped and slashed and yet He asked His Heavenly Father to give them for they did not what they are doing. May the Grace of God be with you always.
