Hello mylotters!!!
My computer is of
1gb ram
intel board
3.06 celeron processor

My pc takes about more than 45 minutes to burn a dvd of 4.7 gb completly. While in my friend's computer having less ram and less processor take about 15 minutes to do this job. And it takes more than 15 minutes to copy files in pendrive. Its much faster in my other friends computer. And when i listen to songs and install any program simultaniously, computer becomes too slow. I can see frames moving in my computer. And sound comes with break too.

What might be my computer's problem? plz i need help...

It generally happens, nothing to worry. seeing your problems i can suggest you some methods which can help you and they are:

1. click START button -> RUN -> type "recent" and click RETURN and delete all these files (which will be displayed in a separate folder). These are waste files which eat your memory.

2. Click START button -> RUN -> type "%temp%" and click RETURN(ENTER) and delete all these files as well.

3. If you can download a software called "TUNE UP UTILITIES" download it and it will surely increase your systems performance.

Hope this helped you. thumbup . Good Luck. Take care. Keep Smiling.

Well then once give your computer to the servicing people they will tel you out. May be the problem might be with the DVD drive as well. I think that is what you have to do and it is a new computer so you will have some sort of warranty so try that also. happy. Good luck.

friends friends friends...!!
its answer is very simple...
there is no virus, no dvd problem...etc... lol
its just because ur OS has become old ...
this happens because of installtion of much more applications..
and the dvd writer is slow because of the change in DMA setting....

In simple ...the solution is...
remove the old OS...install a fresh...OS..
it will solve ur problem...
i have experienced this much many time...

Keep lotting....keep earning.... thumbup

ur computer has got affected by a virus. It seems that u have got a old machine with ddr1 in it.u should upgrade ur nachine in order to meet with speed. To write a dvd, u need more temporary disk space which is covered in drive c: .u should remove all temporary files stored there.u will find a software called tuneup utilities which can maintain ur computer to the fullest.

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

I am sure its not virus. And i dont know which ram is mine but it think its ddr2. Is there any way to check which ram is it? And i have a got a lot of space in c: drive but still its slow. Its the problem since i bought computer so, i don't think its problem in softmare. Can it be hardware?

I think you have slower computer. burning DVD-s slower maybe the problem of your dvd-recorder. and when you see frames on your monitor I think it's your driver problem. make sure you have all your drivers installed. and check your startup too. just leave programs that you really use:)

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

i could be the problem of dvd rom but other applications are slow too. And drivers are installed automatically in computer. Once my brother told it may be because of celeron processor. He said celeron processor are really slow. Is it?
Anyway thanks a lot for response.

myLot reputation of 34/100. bulzika (231)   ranked 6,177 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

yes Celeron processors are cheaper because they are slow. they don't have much cache. yous your computer installs drivers automatically but it's not enough. you should install them by yourself to have all abilities your computer have. install your video card driver and you won't see graphic as frames.

What do you have installed on your machine? Any overly aggressive virus checkers? Any viruses or other malware?
What is the speed (& age) of your hard disk. The speed of the drive the data is coming from and the drive the data is going to are the most important items when it comes to copying data. Are either of the drives USB based, and if so are you sure it is a USB 2 drive.

It might be worth running some benchmark software on both your and your friends machines and see if what returns. 3DMark is one such example.

An array of different "speed up" tools exist (and if none of them work you can always drive a reinstall of windows. It is amazing how often that works). Such tools include Ad-Aware, SpyBot S&D & CCleaner.

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

Thanks for response!!
I don't see any symptoms of computer virus and my anti virus is working very well and updated too. I have nothing much installed in it. Only a regular programs like office, antivirus, winamp, dreamweaver, messenger, a game and other small programs. I don't know speed of my hard disk but it was bought along with computer a year ago.
hmm i will try that software. thanks a lot again and happy mylotting!!

What I can suggest is probably the last solution for your problem. If when you bought it, it's not that slow, then it only mean one thing. Your computer is seriously affected by viruses, that's why it's becoming too slow. You have the best choice of reformatting your harddisk. Before you do that, of course you have to back-up all the important files in your computer. Then make sure you have the drivers of your computer with you. Then you need an OS. Then you can reformat your harddisk now. That is the last and best thing to do if your computer is really not functioning well anymore. I'm sorry but this is my opinion. I hope your computer get well soon. Happy myLotting!

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

No!!! my computer is slow from the time i bought. No matter how many times i format its same. And i am sure this is not virus problem. Thanks for trying your best. Thanks for caring my computer. Happy mylotting!!!

myLot reputation of 95/100. markmoney (559)   ranked 1,793 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

What's your OS, are you using Vista now? If you will downgrade it to XP, you will see the difference in speed. Vista is not really advisable for single core computers as it uses a lot of memory. Or either your harddisk is too large or too small, coz compatibilty is also important. If it is that slow from the time you bought it, then what I can suggest is, a downgrade of OS. Get back to Windows XP and your computer will surely get faster.

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

Hmm i am not using vista. I have windows xp sp3 in mine. But no matter what Os i put its same. Can it be due to processor. Most of my friend and brother says its due to the celeron processor. They say they are not good. Is celeron processor really bad?
What my brother says is "celeron processor has very low cache memory and it cannot carry out multitasking efficient." Can this be the reason? Are celeron processor really bad?
Thanks for responsing and hope to get response again .....

myLot reputation of 95/100. markmoney (559)   ranked 1,793 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

Oh so, you're processor is a Celeron and not a Pentium. They are both Intel but yes, Celeron is slower than Pentium. If you will compare the speed of Pentium and Celeron with the same speed, let's say both are 3Ghz, of course, Pentium will run faster and smoother. That's why Celeron is cheaper than Pentium. Yes, it can possibly be that your processor is the one that causes the problem. So what you can do is an upgrade in hardware, either you can add RAM/memory, make it 2GB, then upgrade your videocard to at least 256mb, or you can also change your processor to Intel Pentium IV with the same speed. After the upgrade, you can see the difference. I hope you can really solve your problem. Happy myLotting!

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

huh?? i think i found it then.. i do have 256 mb video card. then i have again a question? do i need to change whole motherboard to change the processor or just can simply change processor only? will it match?
Thank you for solving my problem... but i don't know will my parents agree to change it or not.

myLot reputation of 95/100. markmoney (559)   ranked 1,793 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

Fortunately no, you don't need to change your motherboard, since you are going to change your processor from Intel to another Intel. You will only needed to change your motherboard if you change your processor to AMD coz it has different size. Probably your processor is a socket type, and perhaps it's on socket 478. So buy a Pentium IV, 3Ghz, single core. Dual core or later processors are not compatible with your motherboard. Are you the one who will put the processor on the motherboard? I think it's better if you just let an expert do it. Or if you buy the processor, bring your CPU and let them be the one to connect it. I hope your computer will be better soon. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

hmm so i don't need to change my whole motherboard. Atleast some relief. Now i have got to convince my parents to change processor.
Very very thanks a lot.

myLot reputation of 34/100. bulzika (231)   ranked 6,177 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

no you'll have to change motherboard too. because I think your processor is too old. your motherboard has socket and not all intel processors will work on it. only the same generation will do. so I think the same generation processor won't be a big relief for you. you'll have to change both

you didn't mention your operating system. Do you regularly delete your recent documents, temporary files and cookies etc. IF u uninstall software there is a some chance that registry files cannot been uninstall. So it is so better to installed some registry cleaner software. you didn't mention your pc speed, would you face speed problem only in your DVD writer means try to change your DVD writer, in my computer i can write one DVD that means 4.7 GB in nearly 13 minutes. But it is sure it is not a virus problem because if the system also became slow, then it may be a virus problem but u didn't mention that processing speed in your pc. ok try to change you DVD Writer....

myLot reputation of 52/100. handsomerohith (272)   ranked 4,788 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

if that problem continues after installed new DVD writer then i suggest you to format you PC and try again

myLot reputation of 52/100. handsomerohith (272)   ranked 4,788 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

what is your DVD Writing software did u use nero express or any other else

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

hello handsomerohith!!!
I use windows xp sp 3. I have an anti tools for deleting temporary files in my computer. Do you mean processor of computer? then its 3.06ghz celeron processor.

I will check out my friends dvd writer in my pc. But the problem is not only with the burning dvds only. When programs(like nero, office,or some bigfile game ) are being installed in computer from harddisk or pendrive or cds it becomes too slow, looks as it has low frame rate. And also takes more time to copy files from pendrive.

What i want to ask is
Can it be due to celeron processor?
but no one responded about it.:-(

Anyway thanks for response and looking forward for your response again ...

TheDragonlady (4)  6 months ago

Hi, I'm a computer engineer and hope I can give some advice. I myself use a PC (laptop) with only a 1.73GHz Celeron processor and it's much, much faster than what you're describing, so I would say it's definitely not the speed of your processor that's the problem, unless the processor itself is actually faulty. The first thing that came to mind for me when I read of your problem is spyware. About 90% of the calls I get from people whose PCs are running at a complete crawl, turn out to be because their PCs have become infested with spyware (my Mac customers never have this problem, though!). But then, you say you've had this problem since you bought the PC.

So, the second thing that comes to mind is: did you ever try reformatting the PC and reinstalling Windows from scratch? I had a customer with a problem that sounds like yours, recently - he had a Dell laptop that took 10 minutes to boot up and ran at a snail's pace. With his permission, I wiped it and reinstalled Windows (XP Pro), and it now boots up in 30 seconds and runs like a dream. If you haven't tried reformatting and reinstalling, that may be your answer - and it will get rid of any spyware, viruses or any other malware that may have been there too!

The PC may even have been messed with before you bought it, by someone at the shop playing around with it - that happened to a friend of mine who bought a new laptop recently and it was running like complete garbage, especially when she was on the Internet. I had a look at her network settings, and there were all sorts of weird network configurations in there, for various strange places she knew nothing about. I deleted all of them and her laptop has run beautifully ever since.

Hope this has been some help!

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

I am sure its not spyware problem in mine. I have tried formatting too. So thats not the problem. But i don't know about the network setting you are talking about. Can this be managed by we simple persons or it needs experts to do this? Either this may be the problem or its my processor which is damaged. If it is easy to manage network connection then, could you please direct me the steps to manage this, if possible.
thanks a lot...Really nice to get an engineer to fix my computer . Happy mylotting!!!

TheDragonlady (4)  6 months ago

Hmm, if you've already re-formatted your PC, then it wouldn't be the networking configurations either, as all of that would have been wiped out along with the reformat. On my friend's laptop, which was Vista, it was under Control Panel/Network & Sharing, and within that, I found about 6 network connections she'd never heard of! When I deleted them, her previously unusably slow laptop ran like a rocket.

At this point, I can only recommend taking it to an experienced PC technician who can run performance tests on it to find out where it's failing. As a lot of your symptoms sound like they might be drive-related, maybe there's a problem with your SATA or IDE bus, whichever type of hard drive bus you have. It may be simply some sort of incorrect setting in the BIOS that was wrongly configured before you bought it, which is easily solved and at no cost, or it may be a faulty piece of drive-related hardware which means spending some money on new components. Hope you can get this mystery solved!

I suggest you to check the speed rating of both the writer and the supports you are using, then if they should be faster than what they are, try to check if your drives are pata, if they are so hard drive and dvd writer should not be in the same ide channel as master and slave but on two different ide channels. (but anyway it seems strange to have such a slowing for this reason).

I think, it's better to upgrade your processor now, It is so cheap nowadays... Celeron was a thing from the past & lot of new softwares requires higher RAM/memory to run properly. You can buy a better processor @ $100 only... That's a price of a 2.8GHz Dual core or a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo... Celeron is for basic computing only... If you want to have fast & powerful PC then upgrade is the solution... Now, if you have time to tweak your system by going to Control Panel/Adminitrative Tool... please disable the services that you think you don't need in your system... one tip is the file indexing... it's one of the services w/in your computer that hogs your resources along w/ system restore... but don't disable system restore... Just minimize your system restore bandwidth by right clicking on your computer then Properties/System restore... then clcik your system drive (C:) then move down the slider to 4 or 5... then you're done... Back to administrative tool... if you don't have a priter then disable the services too... I will try to post a discussion later on... on what windows services can be safely disable to further speed your PC. So that's it for now!

shnsun (99)   ranked 721 out of 10,874 in computers  6 months ago

I was thinking there is some problem in my processor. It is really time for me to change my processor but its not easy. But i think we have to change whole motherboard to change processor. And its not too cheap to do this.
