Does Reading Make You Sleepy?

i think maybe reading is not suitable with you or maybe as you said you just didn't find a book that makes you interested in.

I like reading books. I always feel my time is so limited, so many books are published and I can't catch up.

When i'm searching a book on internet and got a few reviews from the readers. I wonder how can they read so many books, why I couldn't?

So i feel shame then i decide to read more. it sounds like a competition with people you don't know.

Actually it depends on what book I'm reading. Some books wake me right up, and I will not put the book down until I've read the very last page of it. Now if we start talking biography or text books it becomes a battle to finish one or two pages. I read one book all the time even if it does make me sleepy. It is probably just me since reading is my favorite form of entertainment, information, and relaxation.

Sometimes reading makes me sleepy if I am already tired to begin with. I guess if you weren't tired in the first place it probably is because it isn't your kind of book that you would normally read. If someone feels awake then the book must be way too interesting to even notice you are tired. And speaking of tired, if I am not making any sense it is because I am tired.:D

I like reading but i don't have time too and the only chance i get is right before bed but when I pick up a book at night. I found my eyes closing after a few minutes.

That is why on the days that sleep decide to go on strike then the only remedy is reading a book..

It depends on the book, to be honest I used to be quite a bookworm until the dreaded internet took over and I spend all my reading time on the internet, however I do make time for Harry Potter, yes I am 38 and love Harry Potter and I'm off to see the film end of the month!!!! When I used to read a lot it wasn't very often that a book made me sleepy, however college books when studying would always make me sleepy. I guess it's non-fiction that has the sleepy affect on me. When you are trying to understand college text books or doing studying for exams then I will get sleepy very quickly, because the boredom factor sets in, fast!

Well reading books tend to make me very sleepy and boring last time because I had chosen the wrong books like management and marketing books. I found it difficult to finish a single page at times. However I am addicted to reading books recently and I can read from morning till evening, finishing the whole book within hours. This is because I am reading novels now. Reading a novel with a cup of tea and soft music is something that makes me relax myself after a busy week. It doesn't matter what type of books you are reading, just have to find the suitable books for you to indulge into this hobby. Don't give up, take the first move to explore at the bookshop..

Reading sometimes makes me tired, but mostly just because of the strain it puts on my eyes. It's hard to find a comfortable way to hold the book up right and all that jazz, and then sometimes I end up reading it from a perspective my eyes don't always agree with.
That, and the the constant left to right, down, left to right motions are tiring. Hahaha.
BUT... Still, I've been known to stay up late just to finish a chapter or two of a good book.

Hello payout this is checkmail and do read books in my spare time, as its also knowledge base.I basically read boooks which are of ineteresting to me, like cook receipe books, history books, sci-tech books etc.Mostly I don't get tired while reading books, but when I read books at night after whole day without sleep, then after an 1 hours or so it makes me sleepy enough.

Reading used to make my grandmother sleepy also. As she got older, she told me her beliefs as to why people read and get sleepy. She believes that many people red as a form of relaxation, a way to unwind if you will.
Of course, if you want to read a good book, you will more than likely get in a comfortable position perhaps on a comfy couch or in bed, and read. Being where you feel comforted may make you more prone to get sleepy because you feel safe and at ease in your normal surroundings.
On the other hand, think about the books that do keep you awake. Are the fiction or thrillers that keep you in suspense? If so, this could keep your adrenaline pumping making it more unrealistic for you to completely relax and feel at ease.
Thus, you get the feeling of "I must stay up to see what happens next. I can't sleep until after I find out then ending." This is quite common.
