I am the crock pot queen!!! Aren't I? |
|
I have been reduced to having only a small crock pot to cook in lately. It is either that or the mocrowave. It made me think back to when my kids were in school. I also was in school and was a single parent. I became pretty creative in cooking so I wouldn't spend my whole evening in the kitchen as I had to study!
I could put a variety of things on to cook in the morning and it would be done when I got home. I cooked bbq chicken lots. Or bbq ribs.I placed chicken quarters covered with cream of chicken soup and threw in some carrots and some onions. This was great on rice when we got home! I also did something similar with pork chops or pork steaks. I put the meat in with some big chunked up potatoes and some carrots. I then covered it with cream of mushroom soup. When I got home I could add a green salad or vegetable and there ya go! It was so easy!!
These are a few of my quick and easy crock pot meals... how about you?

2. meapas (1238) | 6 months ago | Take some boneless chicken pieces, spice it up. Then take some 3 to 4 onions and chop it. Take some 5 to 6 tomatoes chop it. Fry the onion chops in edible oil and let it turn little brown and then add boneless chicken to it. Cook on the low gas, after a few minutes add tomatoes to it. Add some salt. Keep stirring it till it is cooked 90%. Then add one cup of curd to it and then again keep stirring it till the curd gets dried up. Something new for you. meapas.

3. thea09 (4774) | 6 months ago | Hi macdinglininger, I am still floundering around wondering what exactly a crockpot is! It's definitely an Americanism. I am presuming it is something like an electric slow cooker. One pot to plug in? Anyway whatever it is I do the same thing in the winters but in a large casserole dish in the oven. I will cook a big pan of casserole with meat and vegetables and cook it slowly, freeze some for another day and eat it for a couple of days. I tend to do beef casserole, Irish stew and pork casserole like that, and just add the dumplings later.

macdingolinger (1227) | 6 months ago | Sorry... yes a crock pot is basically an electric slow cooker. And it kind of acts like a very small electric oven of sorts! You basically can put anything in it like you would your cassaroles in the oven.

4. caver1 (1138) | 6 months ago | I use my crock-pot more in the winter, but occasionally in the summer when I have a really busy day. I do several things with meat and cream of soups also. Soup is a favorite thing for us to make and I have a really good Stacked Enchialdas recipe too. I've even made cake in the crock pot! And my daughter's favorite is Cheesy Potatoes.

| 5. Clheer71 (17) | 3 months ago | My absolute favorite for the Crock Pot is a good size piece of meat, any really but at 3lbs. I usually go for the untrimmed piece and trim a little off when I get home. Add 1 packet of onion soup mix and 32 ounces of a dark soda. Yep, that's right....good ol Coke or Pepsi are great. I've even cooked one with a cherry flavored soda (I love cherries). That one turned out alright but I think the best roast was with DIET Coke. The meat is so tender, juicy and flavorful. I know it sounds bizaar but try it....just once.
