Do you wish for a long life?  |

|  Many of us pray for a long life on earth. And what if God has answered your prayers and granted you a long life? Have you ever thought of the disadvantages of having to live a long life and becoming a nuisance to our children. Can you imagine living to a ripe old age of 100 years old or over? Will you still be able to recognize your children? Your eyesight is failing and is half deaf. When you walk with the help of a walking stick your face can almost touch the ground. Your face will be all wrinkled, the flesh hanging to a skeletal body. The witch like appearance will send young children crying frantically.
What is the use of having to live a long life when we are no longer useful to our children and to the society? We have lived a fruitful life and leaving our earthly existence should be a great blessing to us as we need the long awaited rest in peace and also to the children as it will be less of a burden to care for a centenarian. Afterall we have accomplished our life long mission on earth so why pray for a long life?

Although I am in no great hurry to die (most days) I have had enough of pain and heartbreak in the preivious 49 years that I positively do not want to live another 49 years...but being as God or whomever it is seems to love to mess with me, I'll probably live to be 120...

| |  Living the rest of my life without debt and in good physical shape is important to me, not least for the fact that I had a heart attack last year, and I never want to see a hospital again for the rest of my days.
The usual reply that I give is that I want to die quietly in my sleep one day after my 84th birthday (given the overcrowded planet that we have now that should be long enough). I still want to look good, and have not too many marks of age that cannot be hidden.
And as I have no children, anything mentioned in that area is not relevant to this discussion.

| |  yes,what you said is right ,i agree with you.i don't want to live those many years ,a life span of around 60 is enough for me.i do not want to be a burden for anyone.i cannot imagine of living such terrible life.if you live also that is useless,becoz as a worth of being a human ,you are not useful to any one at that time.why to live such kind of life,you will have nothing to acheive,you cannot enjoy at that time.then y to live.what you say.

| |  I have never wished for a long life. I have a daughter who wants to be around to see the turn of the next century that will make her 116. She works hard to stay in shape and is one that might enjoy life that long. My children know my fear is having strokes in my old age and not knowing what is going on, laying in a bed for years not able to take care of myself or even know what is going on.
Personally I pray to learn the things I should in this life and to enjoy what I have. I also want to make the most of the challanges God has choosen for me here on earth. I ask The Father for the wisdom, knowledge and ability to use the knowledge I have been given. It is His plan not mine that is important.
My appearance does not worry me, and I would be happy walking with a cane at that age. My children understand the aging process better than many as my Father lived with us until he died in 2000. My girls were all teenagers than and would never run crying from someing as trivial is wrinkles and hanging flesh.

A stroke patient will lose all his will of living since the only tissues that are alive are the blinking eyes and the lungs which is still able to draw in free air. All others are as good as dead. | |  no i don't wish to live long, I never want that to happen because I'm afraid to be alone. I actually wish to die young while I'm capable of doing things for myself. I served a lot with this life and when the time comes I'll be left alone where there is no one to care for me when I'm old. I don't have kids and I only got slim chances of having one. My husband is 18 years older than me and its a fact that he will leave me first.
My family care less for me specially my siblings and I don't see them to care for me when I'm old, the only sibling who cares for me had died already. I cant imagine my life would be if i live longer than I should.

| |  I would love to live a long life if it was a healthy one and I didn't have to depend on my children or husband take care of me or someone else. If I were healthy and able to get around by myself and still aware of what is going on around me I wouldn't mind living a long life. Then on the other hand the way the world is getting it is scary how ti will be when I am older. So I have put this into God's hands and I will try to live my life to the fullest each day and when He is ready to bring me home I will be ready to go. God bless you!
