Who would you fire? |
|
My friend was picking up something to eat this morning and heard two people. I don't know who they were or where they work, but she said they talking about how they have to cut costs and fire people. There's one guy who's kind of slacking off, but they feel bad to fire him because he has a family. Then they were talking about this other guy who does ok, but they don't feel bad because he's single. Who would you fire? An ok employee who's single or a not so good employee who has a family?

If the other guy is just "ok", he's going to need step up now, or else he may find himself being replaced by someone who is better than OK!

5. saundyl (4353) | 5 months ago | I think if it was a case of having to fire someone to cut costs i would keep the person who was more productive. It would benefit the compnay more. However i would possibly cut costs otherplaces first and give the person who is slated for being cut..a chance to improve their performance before cutting them.
I can understand the temptation/sympathy for the person with a family however single people also have to have an income...i knowoften here both people in a family work out of the homee so if the person with the family had a second income coming into the family id be feeling more bad for the person who has no one/nothing else.
BUT i will point out im the one right now who has been very irritated by the co-worker who comes into work then sits and plays pc games or reads instead of doing her job...gets paid to do it..leaves a mess for me to clean up comes and goes as she pleases. So i'd be less sympathetic right now to someone who is like her.
