Do you feel embarrassed when you get hiccups in public? how do you control it?

i hiccup in school and in places where everyone is silent, and then you go HIC HIC...
a treatment for me is to deep breath and drink water and pinch my nose. then its gone. my other technique is take a deep breath, pinch my nose and jump 3 to 4 times. and then release, hiccups are gone!

Long Lost Ancient Hiccup Fix...............Get a tall glass of water. In one breath you must swallow nine or more swallows of water. Got to be nine or more in one breath or it won't work. Eight won't get it. This has never failed to work as far as I know!!!

Hiccups are very natural and are caused by a heart beat which has gone out of rhythm for only a moment. Hiccups can be annoying if they do not stop early and are very irritating. There is one way which will help to get rid of it at the earliest. You see as the heart beat has gone wrong we have to set it right. Taking a deep breath or even holding your breath for as long as you can, can get rid of hiccups at the earliest. Of course, even drinking water will help.

No, I'd never be embarrassed at getting hiccups in public. Sometimes I take a deep breath and hold it or sip water. My dad used to say you should drink water from the opposite side of the glass to that facing you - so your head is forward over the glass and you tip the glass away from your body. I think it works because you have to concentrate not to spill it ??

Hi, hiccups are naturally unnatural. Because of some anomaly in the system it occurs. I never feel embarrassed if it has to occur in the public. Either I would take water or adopt your technique.
