Do you have a Cricut? email this discussion to a friend?

I recently bought a Cricut. I had used one at a Creative Memories crop, and I fell in love with it! I have 5 cartridges for my machine so far, and want more! I already told everyone to just give me cash for Christmas so I can put it towards my scrapping.
What is your favorite cartridge? Have you used the inks that you can put in it? Have you tried layers?

I'm sorta "new" with my Cricut, but I'm making so many beautiful pages. I could scrap book for hours and hours!!

Scrapbooking is a hobby that takes over! I'm glad you've found something that will pass the time, good luck.

Thanks, I just love it! Now it's hard to set time aside to do it. You can't just scrap for 5 minutes or so... once you start a page you can't stop and I usually end up killing a whole day! LOL

i actually dont but have been thinking about getting one. what cartridges do you have? what worries me is that i wouldnt get enough use out of it. i dont do a whole lot of scrapbooking, i make all my own cards and gift tags however.

I can't remember all the cartridges I have, I have only about 5. There are actually several more uses for it then just scrapping. You can cut stencils and fabric. It has a lot of uses for crafting and decorating. So far, I only use mine for scrapping and I LOVE it. It was well worth the $100 bucks. I get all of my cartridges off of Ebay, and a lot of times you can find great deals.

I also have one and love it.....my favorite cartridge would be the home solutions....but I got the paper doll one too and my DIL and little granddaughter love that one....they have even made paper dolls for the little one! Each one though is fun and it does make scrapping more polished....I recently tried to scrap with my older sister and she just has a sissix....well she really needs a cricut! LOL

myLot reputation of 97/100. guss2000 (1055)   ranked 236 out of 411 in scrapbooking  3 months ago

I seen that paper doll cartridge, I thought it would be great for a little girl. I don't have the Home Solutions cartridge yet, but I really want to try to get it.
I haven't used the Sissix, but I have seen it. It's SOOOO not as good as a Cricut. Do you have the personal Cricut or the Expression? I have the personal one, which is great for me.

I have the personal one and its just fine for me......my friend is a manager at a store and does bulletin boards for her crew and she wishes she had waited and gotten the expressions....but I just use it for scrapping and cards so I am good with it.

I have seen infomercials for the cricut, and it looks very interesting. I do not own one right now, although my husband has seen me watching these infomercials about it, and I wonder if he has any plans that I don't know about to get me one. It sounds like you love it, do you find that you have replaced buying all the other kinds of scrapping stuff like stickers, chipboard, scissors and such, or are those still something that you use? I guess my worry with using a cricut is that all the things that I have purchased or have been given to use for scrap booking will go to waste. What do you think? Also, I guess my next worry with getting one is that it would take away the creativity and the really hard work I put into making my pages beautiful. I like to cut things and put things together so that they are just so on my pages. Do you feel like the cricut takes away any of that "personal" creative touch that we all add to our work?

myLot reputation of 97/100. guss2000 (1055)   ranked 236 out of 411 in scrapbooking  3 months ago

I LOVE those infomercials, they always teach me something new I can do with my machine. I actually caught my fiance watching it late at night one night after I had bought mine. It was so funny because he was like "look honey, look at all of the stuff it can do!!". I just kept saying "I know, I know!". It was just too funny.

I still do use stickers and stuff, because sometimes you still need an added touch. I don't feel like it takes away your personal touch because you are still laying it out and using your hand writing or journaling. I like to cut headers with mine or sometimes extra embellishments.

You should try to attend a "crop party" where someone has one so that you can try it out. I did that, and fell in love with it instantly.

You could tell your hubby to put it on your Christmas list!

Hi everyone I just got a cricut myself and love it as well!!!!! the only problem Im having is when I want to do any type of layering, do i really need to print all of the images to get the right colors? for exp I have the "Life a Beach" Cartridge and to print out the mermaid i would need to print out her hair, skin color, outfit and so on in all the colors i want??? it seems like a waste of paper and time consuming!!! like i said i really do like the machine i just want to know if Im doing it wrong:0( I also have the disk for it but can find a way to just cut out for exp the hair once in brown or black and so on. Please let me know i really going crazy try to make this work

myLot reputation of 97/100. guss2000 (1055)   ranked 236 out of 411 in scrapbooking  3 months ago

I just recently figured out how to layer, but haven't tried it yet. From the video that I watched on their website, yes you have to cut out the pieces in the colors that you want, and glue together. I do believe that would result in extra pieces. I thought about that as well, and was thinking it would be a waste. My solution is to mix and match the extra pieces that are cut, put together the extra "item" and ebay them. LOL
It sounds like you are doing it right though. Did you watch the video tutorial on their website on how to layer? What you just described sounds like how they did it on there.
