More Alaskans Now Disapprove Than Approve of Sarah Palin  

Actually Obama's doing a little worse depending on which poll you watch. The latest Rasmussen poll has him at only 48% approval with 51% disapproving.

I have seen several polls lately. All the numbers a little different. But all show the same thing......it approval ratings are dropping.
If it keeps up at this pace by the end of four years he be in trouble.

Four years? Hardly. Try by the end of his first year he'll be a lame duck with approval ratings below 40%. He's doing exactly opposite of what he promised on many issues and people realize his grab for power of health care is nothing more than his attempt to gain control over people because if the government controls your health care, it controls you.

Lil, I'm sorry, I could have sworn I'd replied to you before! You're sure right about Bush and especially Cheney - they really didn't care at all how the people felt about the things they were doing. In some ways I'm afraid Obama's taking it too far to the other extreme, at least as far as trying to gain favor with those who will never be willing to work with him no matter what he does. I think the President's approval/disapproval ratings may be a bit misleading right now especially as they pertain to health care. Sure, some of those whom disapprove of how he's handled the health care issue feel that way because they're opposed to his ideas as they've been presented by the media but many are disappointed because they fear there will once again not be anything done about the crisis in this country.

I agree with you about it being strange how there are always so many people in every poll with no opinion or even who aren't familiar at all with the person or issue they're being polled on. I think we have people from all over the nation and from every demographic group who seem to be living under a rock somewhere...lol! I'm with you, I hope they don't vote either!

I know Alaska does have a summer but from what I've heard it's a rather short one and since I'm a swimmer who loves the heat I don't think I'd like it. I've also always thought the cost of living was higher than most other states.

Well, wasn't the poll that showed her with a 54% approval rating taken before she announced she'd be quitting? I guess this poll only means something if she intends to continue in politics. She IS a public figure and I've seen no indication that she intends to simply disappear into private life anytime soon, have you?

Taskr, I appreciate your diligence in making sure everyone follows the myLot TOS but I find it interesting that you come to the defense of someone who breaks more rules than she follows! I have a feeling that this particular guideline about correcting or criticizing someone's English or grammar pertains mainly to those whose primary language is NOT English. That's understandable since they're required to post in English so I think it's only right that we cut them some slack. I know I'm more bothered by those with violations such as name-calling or other abusive or offensive posts, one-liners or discussions that consist of only a link, discussions that really AREN'T discussions, duplicates and posts that are just plain crude and disgusting.

I think Palin's is based on her performance as governor of Alaska, isn't it? It doesn't really "matter" unless she uses it to gauge whether she should seek higher office in the future. In the case of the President's approval ratings, I think it's a more complex issue. He IS in office and he's working on many different issues so the opinions come from different people for different reasons. I realize those of you who are opposed to health care reform in general are thrilled to take the lower numbers for Obama as vindication of your stance but I don't think it's that simple at all. Anyway, that's for a whole different discussion.

That's an excellent point! I've said that if I lived in Alaska I'm not sure how I'd have answered the question but I'd imagine if I'd REALLY needed that fat check and she GAVE it to me I'd approve of her too...lol!
