What kind of stove do you use?

We just bought a new home that came with an electric stove. Years ago when I'd tried electric stoves I HATED them and always preferred gas, but this one isn't bad. Which do you use in your home or most often? A gas or electric, or some other type of stove? Which do you prefer to use?

I hate electric stoves! Once I tried an older model that I thought was okay, but then I realized how superior all the food tasted when I made the same stuff on my home gas stove. My friends swear by electric and it is so annoying to cook at their houses.

Mine is a combo. It uses gas but is has an electric starter. Som you can't start it buy using a match like you could with a regular gas stove.

The only glitz is you can't start the oven if you lose power.I miss heating a gas only oven.

Hi Bethany. I use an electric stove, or more precisely a glass top electric stove. I love it! It's so much better than the traditional electric stove with the those darn coils. That type of stove was such a pain in the rear to clean. LOL I prefer electric over gas. For some reason I just feel safer using electric stoves. Happy mylotting!

I had a gas stove in my last apartment and I loved it, the oven did get a little too hot when just making a pizza but I love open flames, I grill a lot so it was easy to use. I now have a burner type stove and it works okay but there is something about a gas stove that brings back memories with my grandmother and her cookie baking.

I have always liked electric stoves over gas stoves, and that is why I have one right now. Gas stoves are more dangerous then electric ones. Gas stoves are more likely to explode, and you have to do more work to get them on. I think with gas stoves you have to light a match to get them to work??? With electric stoves all you have to do is turn them on.

I never had to light mine with a match unless the pilot light went out. Mine always seemed pretty safe, but I am liking my electric stove now that I'm used to it.

Hello my friend Bethany1202 Ji, After our marriage, when we started our married life, we took two room house where Electric-stove cooking was made comulsory, initially I hesitated as I never cooked and was habituated my cooking with conventional fuel like like cole/wood/Vicks stove. later on Most of the time including today, we have and cook with gas-stove. But best and hygenic is cooking by fire-wood. May God bless You and have a great time.

I have an electric stove in my apartment, and I actually like it better than a gas stove. My parents always had gas stoves in their homes, so I've cooked using both.

I have an electric stove here in our apartment. But what I truly miss is my glasstop stove that I had in my old house. It was so much easier to clean up when there was a spill. There were no drip pans to mess with, or having to pull everything apart to clean . You simply sprayed it with no-scratch cleanser and wiped everything clean.

I have a gas stove. I do prefer them especialy when it comes to baking. However, I do not care for one feature on mine and that is it has a burner that's very powerful and it scares the snot out of me to light it as it makes a sound sometimes that sounds like it may seplode and the flame goes beyond the pan and it scares me so I don't use that burner.

We have a gas stove and I love it. Sometimes I do worry about gas leaks. My parents have an electric stove and I think it takes so long to cook things.

hi bethany! i prefer a gas stove...simply because its more convenient for me and cheaper...i think. and i get used to it already...i don't really l;ike electric stoves coz it just make my electric bill so high! hehehe and if there's power interruption....which is common here before, its a problem! hehehe so i like my gas stove and i also have a charcoal stove here...that i am using in case of my LPG gets empty!

I live in the boarding house. So we use the stove together. In here, I use gas stove. Actually I wanna buy 1 small electric stove so I don't have to go down to the fist floor (my room is in the 2nd floor). Sometimes it feels so lazy just to go down 1 floor, he he he. Maybe someday I will buy it. But for now, I am still satisfied with the gas stove.

Out in the midwest united states where i grew up, having a gas stove was pretty much the norm, as natural gas was piped into the homes there just like water and electricity, and it was cheaper. Now that i live in maine, very very few peopel have gas stoves, as in order to have a gas stove, you have to get and refill propane tankes that are attached outside your house, and it is far more costly than having an electric stove. That said, i do miss coking on a gas stove. It is what i grew up with, what i was used to. And as an added bonus, you could make smores any time of the year right inside to comfort of your own kitchen! (Loved doing that onspecial occasions as a kid!) But now that i have been away from cooking on gas, i find that when i go back home to visit my family, i constantly burn everything i try to cook on their stove! I forget how quickly gas stoves heat up, and how much more intense their heat can be!
