PC PROBLEM... I need help. |
|
I'm using my laptop now 'cause I don't know what the hell happened to my desktop computer. It suddenly stopped working.
I'm not sure how your own CPU looks like but mine has this two little bulbs (I think they call it LED) placed beneath the power button. Usually, when I turn on the CPU, it lights up the GREEN and the RED LED.
But recently, I notice that when I turn on the CPU, the only LED that lights up is the RED one. And then the monitor won't display anything.
I'm really worried since most of my files are installed on that CPU. Frankly, I want to burst out in tears now.
Please help me...
What do you think is the problem?
What can I do to solve this sh*t?

1. machizmo (264) | 5 months ago | That does not sound like a computer problem but the card that you plug the monitor in has gone bad. The video card may have went bad. If the computer hard drive which is what you store stuff on goes out it will still load up the monitor.

kdmlrys (257) | 5 months ago | That's what I'm thinking 'cause I recently made changes with the video card. What does the GREEN led indicates anyway?

kdmlrys (257) | 5 months ago | Well the Power Supply is running fine.

| 2. Gondovia (33) | 5 months ago | It sounds like a graphics card problem, can you hear the computer working inside? Ask a friend to borrow their video card to try it out or take your own video card and try it out on a friend's system. This may be a wide array of problems, but this is the most common problem.

kdmlrys (257) | 5 months ago | I opened the CPU and I noticed that parts such as the CPU fan and the Power Supply is working as it is. I already cleaned up the CPU from dust, even the power supply. I also tried switching the video card to a NVIDIA GeForce. But the problem is still there.
Now I switched back to the built-in video card.
Do you think there is something wrong with the motherboard?

|
|
| Gondovia (33) | 5 months ago | Possibly, but what's more likely is a monitor problem. I recommend getting a technician to take a look at it. Take your computer to your local computer store and ask them if they can take a look at it. Sorry i couldn't provide any more help.=(

|
katie472001 (297) | 5 months ago | It could be that the monitor either went out or the harddrive.

4. kalav56 (1927) | 5 months ago | Dont worry. It may be a dust problem and would be rectified soon.even if it is a viral problem get a technician to look at your comp.Good luck! I know how you would feel becasue I was going through the same and my comp is working only for the past 2 days after a gap of ten days.

5. cbeee3 (884) | 5 months ago | Like some other myLotters have responded, I think it could very well be a problem with the video card too.But before jumping to any conclusions, make sure its not something as silly as a loose connection. Ensure that all the cables and wires are plugged in properly. Also check that the monitor is turned ON. Do you hear the CPU working? If you have tried all the above mentioned options and it is not anything as trivial, then my next guess would be the video card. So try checking that out.

kdmlrys (257) | 5 months ago | Cables and Wires aren't loose... CHECK! CPU working... CHECK! Monitor is turned ON... CHECK!
Problem is still there. Hmmm, perhaps you're right. For me, it's either the video card or the motherboard.

John4Christ (1023) | 5 months ago | ohk did you try to put the graphics card in another PCI slots, I mean just switch it to the other slots......also are other cards like if you have put in a sound card, etc working fine......if they are working fine then your mother-board is perfectly ok.......also I guess you would have to install the drivers for the graphics card(look out for the driver CD in the box).........also try switching off the integrated video card from the BIOS settings.......and then you can try restarting you PC again.......

6. kun2349 (7310) | 5 months ago | I guess your com is not spoiled.. Rather, something is wrong with your monitor instead.. Since your com is able to boot up, only that there's nothing on your screen, it means your monitor is spoiled..
Or maybe it might be some components related, such as graphic cards etc^_^ It's nothing serious and your files are definitely not affected^_^

kdmlrys (257) | 5 months ago | Thanks for saying that. The only thing I'm worried about are my files. I'm going to buy a new PC anyway.

smbBlogger (101) | 5 months ago | If you get a new PC you can just transfer the HDD's to the new computer, of course you have to configure the computer so it starts correctly.

8. radx682 (288) | 5 months ago | It is not a major problem...it is because of the dust collected in your display adapter inside the CPU... Open the CPU, plug out the display cable, plug out the display card and plug out the RAM...just blow on the display slot and RAM slot...use a tissue paper and clean the contact point of display adapter and RAM...plug in all the components back in the same position...then everything must be fine..
Switch on ur PC..your monitor will work this time..pls take the help of someone who knows to do this...If the problem still persists..pls revert...happy mylotting:-)

10. daeckardt (861) | 5 months ago | I don't know what to suggest about this problem. I really do feel for you. I have not been able to get my laptop working and it was pretty much the same way I feel. I have a lot of pictures saved on that computer. One day I tried to turn it on and it looked like it was going to turn on, but the system never came up. Is there a good computer shop you can take it to? If nothing else, they can take the hard drive and recover the data. That is all I want to do with mine. The computer doesn't matter as much since I have a good system now. I hope you are able to get it working.
