"Cheaper" Medicines Bill

I am starting this discussion because my blood literally boiled when I read another mylotter post that GMA spend $20,000 on dinner while she was in NY. As we filipinoes may have read or watched in the news, GMA has bragged about the medicines which will be sold at half of their original selling price. This was one of her so-called "acheivements". Among these medicines she claimed that those that can help the most are the medicines for cancer patients. My mother is a cancer patient and when I bought her medicines the other day and saw the list of medicines that have been discounted, not even one of her medications are in the list. And I spent P6000 for her medicines, this is just for her diabetes and high cholesterol meds. The diabetes and high cholesterol meds that are to be sold at half price are brands that I have not even heard of. So, while our dear president is spending a million pesos a night, filipinos like us who sweat our lives off paying taxes so that these government officials can steal, we also die from not being able to afford medicines. My mothers' chemotherapy session costs P200,000 per session. My mother has even decided to stop her chemo because our family can no longer afford it. And then I read GMA is dining at a cost of a million pesos for one night.

i dont think the govt. is serious enough in cutting down the prices for medicines. the medicines they cut down cannot benefit the majority of the population since it only caters to few diseases. they should have given a bigger perspective and attention to the masses. I am JRA patient(juvenile rheumatoid arthritis), my lifeline are my medicines since its not included in the list, i have to deal with the high prices of these meds. anyway, they should have cut down the medicines that are commonly afflicted by the masses like pulmonary, respiratory diseases. our govt will never change. it will get worse as time goes by. goodluck to all of us!

I find it sad that basic services such as health care cannot be addressed by our government. Yep, you're right. All we can do is hope and pray that someday things will get better for us poor filipinos. Take care!

I am also rather disgusted at how these presidential enourage has been taking advantage of their trip in NY. Our nation was in the midst of mourning for Cory but they are there enjoying their times. They are bragging indeed that they did not use government funds and they are putting their finger to one congressman that shouldered everything but I think that is still unacceptable since they could afford to spend that money but to their constituents they could not. I think this congressman doesn't deserve to be back in his seat since he is just not showing any concern to his constituents.
