I need some advice please! |
| |
| Please do not give me a bunch of spam! I need to start a career. The only thing is, I have no flippin' clue what the heck I want to do. I am a mother to 5 beautiful kids (who go back to school in 2 days!! Woo hoo!!!!) and my boyfriend also has 5 kids. So, I need to do something that has very flexible hours ( like a at-home job or a biz that can be ran from home). All but one of mine are in school. And she could be if I wanted to let go of my only baby girl, my last one to leave off to school...boo hoo. I want her to go yet I don't want to. Anyways, so I have time on my hands. But, I don't want a job that is going to fire me when I have to miss a week straight cause all of us have the stomach flu or something like that. I have done many things... such as: District Manager at Waffle House Office Manager at Direct Veiw (a satellite company) Property Manager for 2 very large mobile home parks CNA at a Nursing Home From these jobs I've learned that I love to stay very, very busy. I don't want a sec to sit down....I go go go. I am very good at customer service but suck at trying to sell you something (I'm too honest). I loved doing the property management, did not like some of the messes I had to clean up, ha. I loved being a CNA and I started nursing classes, but I get too attached too easily and don't think I could handle being a nurse, emotionally. I'm good at problem solving, I love to do it! I'm a people person, I'm very out-going. I LOVE to help people!!! If I could get a job only doing awesome things for people, that would be GREAT, not likely, but great! I love kids, just not my own some days, ha...just kiddin'. I am very good with other people's kids. I'm a very 'in-tune' person. I'm rambling, sorry. I just don't know what way to go. So, I need some advice please!!! I need some ideas. What has worked for you? What do you do? How long you been doing it? Favorite/least favorite part? Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope you have a wonderful life!!! God Bless I only finished the 9th grade, but I'm very smart and I learn quickly. | | | | | |

| | The problem with selling things, as you've said you are no good at is that if you decide that is the direction that you want to go, you need to find a product that you love. I didn't think that I would be good at that, but it turns out I found a product that I totally believe in and that I love and it turns out that I am very good at that. If for any reason you should want someone to brainstorm this kind of avenue with, feel free to add me as a friend and you can bounce ideas at me or I can share with you what I am doing. I'm not looking to add you to my downline or anything like that, but I really have found that I like to explore personalities with people. By the way, I was also once a CNA too, looking to go into nursing school but I stopped because of emotional attachment to patients and also a back injury. | | | | | | |

| | I have found that taking tests showing my interests at the local community college is extremely helpful. Don't be afraid of talking to a counselor at the community college even if you have not finished high school. I was quite surprised how taking a personal interest test gave me a list of things that I had never thought of for a job. I trust that you have asked God to direct you where you should go and I believe He is answering that prayer. You can also go the your local library and ask the reference desk person to help you look into some of these interests by looking into the government register books showing a profession, what it pays, it's future, and what is required. You have done a lot of things in your life and it is quite impressive. God bless you in your pursuit. I have been trying to center on Proverbs and the verses on wisdom and understanding. Maybe some of these verses would help. I am still in the discovery stage on this one and am not quite sure if this could help in what you need. | | | | | | |

| | Very creative name! dyslexicwriter? right? ha, nice! Thank you for your suggestions. I had never thought about that before. Of course, it seems like I can't even go to the bathroom by myself, let alone to school or the library. :-) Seriously though, I will definitely check that out, because I really want to do this. It's so aggervating not knowing or even having a clue what is the best thing to do. I know that my kids take up so much of my time that it's really hard to get anything accomplished. I need to fix that first, I guess. Have a great day! Thanks again! | | | |

| | Let me know how the whole child and free time works. I'm still working on it with the children in their twenties. My personal philosophy is that each child takes up at least eight hours per day. When you go over three children, you run out of hours per day, and the famous "honey what did you do all day" statement is really endearing. It was one of my dad's favorite questions. It never got a calm answer. Sysdexlic writer comes from me going to "vision therapy" at 50 years old and strengthening my eye muscle so that the dyslexia is now GONE! Sooooooooooo I'm a happy sysdexlic writer. I know you can move forward with your education and your personal goals. As you do, it will inspire your children to also move forward in their lives. It's a win/win situation! | | | |

| | Thank you Citychic, but NO THANK YOU! I'm trying to get away from kids, not get more, ha! Ok, I'm just trying to get away from mine. :-) I have thought about it, but I live near Kokomo, Indiana where the HUGE Chrysler and Delphi plants got shut down. Almost all the daycares have closed and the ones that are still open are really struggling. There are no jobs here, like everywhere else. I really wouldn't mind being a childs advocate. I've always wanted to, but the emotional thing, ugh. So many choices.... | | | |

| | If you have this jobs that your saying now, keep it. It will help you. Find a nani for your kids. Since that your daughter has her own life let her go. Don't tie her up in responsibility that is not her own. She can help you in other way say financially. About your boyfriend with 5 kids too. Talk to him. If he has good and permanent job ask him get a nani too. Its not a joke having 10 kids in a house. You cannot take care them all especially below 12 years old of age. And your working. Darling your not a super woman or wonder woman to do everything. Hire somebody to help you say a nani, a maid or domestic helper. You say you were good in your job. Why don't you sit down list all the activity you have from your job and in your house. Try to figure out your time for each of your activities from work, your house, and your childrens activity. Make sure that those will not over lap so you still have time with your self. But if the resolt of your list makes you miserable and turns your head around. Then talk with your partner and both of figure out the situation and decide if your going to get a domestic helper and nani. Be smart on decision making.... | | | | | | |

| | A couple of suggestions just based on the information you supplied are: At-home daycare Errand Service Cleaning Service I don't see that any of these would require a whole lot of financial investment to start off. I myself have a very slow going cleaning company. It has it's ups and downs as the economy is so bad, but when it has it's ups - it has it's ups. Don't know if any of this will help but it definately gives you a little something to think about. Best of luck!!! | | | | | | |

| | Very good suggestions. I'll pass on the daycare...See above response, lol. I have thought about the Errand and Cleaning Service. I am also very very very good with coupons. I once got $387 worth of stuff from Walgreens for free and actually made $43 bucks doing it! But, it's very time consuming! Especially for a person like me. I have ADHD and I am the most unorganized person EVER! I know where everything is, but it's never there, ha! I'm sorry, I've had no sleep for 3 days and I'm about crazy. How can a person be so darn tired all the time but NEVER sleep? That's a whole other discussion that I'm gonna start in a minute now that I thought of it...lol. | | | |

| | go to odesk.com and sign up as a freelance service provider. then set aside some quiet time to take several of their online tests. take this seriously because the tests will be rated against all other providers and you will be able to generate business leads if you are in the top percentile. then, start responding to some of the queries posted by people that want to hire a virtual assistant or whatever sort of job you desire... you will be put into an auction and the winner (based on your personalized response and price to the buyer) gets an interview then it's up to you to close the deal. since you have 5 kids... I find it hard to imagine that you have any available time to do focused, uninterrupted work! but this is probably the best online advice you will get so... best of luck with your new online career | | | | | | |

| | I am inclined to agree with Citychic on this. Considering that u have affinity for children, day care center becomes a beautiful option. If, however, u do not wish to do it, u could consider taking up some course for special children - like autistic children, who can do with help, and will give a great pleasure with each achievement. Ur fear of getting fired implies that u r also interested in monetary angle. Try some flower nursery - enlist the help of disabled persons. Keep it democratic. They might be more knowledgeable and capable than u in this field. U can leave the reigns in their hands when u get sick and be assured that business will be still ok. Alternately, u can take up some contract works, and help disabled and aged persons make two ends meet with such contracts. In ur absence one of the senior persons in ur office can continue to do the needful. One such contract services provider is www.elance.com. U could try jobsearchengine.com as well. | | | | | | |
