Wich of these storms does your area have potential for? Typically we get a rare Tornado, but we do have a part of our area dubbed as "tornado alley" as they are farm feilds and those tend to be hit quite a bit when storms rolls through. Though my hubby lived near a several sod farms as a child and they'd get an occasional tornado pass by them. How about by you? Wich of these storms do you fear?

Tornadoes, tornadoes, tornadoes...And I hate, hate, hate them. They scare me, terrify me, frighten me, and my biggest worry is that one will hit and I won't know what happened to my dog. Because heaven knows a person can hardly, if at all. hold on to a child let alone a dog.

I'm in tornado country but we rarely get any. The town that's about 25 miles away, Xenia, seems to attract them but here we rarely get anything other than the occasional strong thunderstorm. A town 20 miles the other way, Urbana, gets the really severe stuff. My city seems to escape the worst of anything. I lived in Arizona for a lot of years and nothing happens there, no natural disasters like strong storms or earthquakes. Little rain, just heat all the time. Very safe but very, very boring and depressing! I don't fear any storms yet because I haven't experienced a tornado but I do have a healthy respect for them and I'm as prepared as I can be--I have enough for me to survive for a month and help others down in my storm room in the basement!

I have to admit a fearful fascination with tornadoes, never seen one, but they are probably the most dangerous type of wind storm I will ever have to worry about. Now, I have actually been in some hurricanes, but they are rare to make it this far inland, but Texas does get hit regularly...

We get snow storms, and I'm so thankful for that! When I was younger I used to think I wanted to move to a different part of the country, but then I realized how good I have it here. I don't get hurricanes or monsoons. I don't get tornadoes. I don't get earthquakes. I get snow! Sometimes lots and lots of it! Snow doesn't bother me. Yes we have to shovel it and yes it can get dangerous to drive in, but snow is maneagable. Snow cannot destroy your house in the blink of an eye. Snow cannot take away everything you own in a blink of an eye. You can prepair for snow and you can deal with it when you have it. You can lock yourself in your house and turn on all the heaters and watch movies until the storm passes and you'll be perfectly safe! Can't say that about anything else in the world!

I've been living in NM for the past 2 1/2 years and we have the potential to get only Monsoons but I have yet to experience it. We hardly ever get rain when we do it can pour. Since I have been here I have maybe experienced at two different times a day of rain on and off. I'm use to having alot of rain in New York. In New Mexico it gets so dry you actually Pray for rain.
