Do you remember your first apartment or house? I was thinking last night how much i liked like little blue and white apartment that i moved into 7 years ago when i left my parents home. I remember it being so different being responsible for all the bills...the food and the problems! I remember finding out that yes one had to have a mop or something to wipe the floor with...and that plungers did not come with the apartment (that was embarrassing!) I did however remember to buy a shower curtain before i moved in. I remember my mom telling me to take pictures and make a list of any damage that exsisted when i moved in. It was hard to find somewhere that would take pets! What do you remember? What sorts of things did you find out when you moved in...what sort of things did you find that you needed that you forgot about?

I moved into my first place so so many years ago. I was 18 and just out of highschool and so very naive. my husband and I rented a house with another couple...not a good idea at all. It was a learning experience...lots of good memories with that place to be sure. I learned a lot about budgeting and the costs of things. I learned very quickly how much I took for granted living with my parents.

I had my first apartment two years ago. My parents helped me to pay for that. At that time I just graduate from the school, I had not enough money to buy a apartment. My parents use their whole saving to pay for that. I don't know how to reciprocate them.

Well, we had our own apartment after we got married. It was 3 storey and we had the top one. Hubby's other two brothers were in the middle and ground floor respectively. It was a real fun staying there, on sundays all the three brothers would cook mutton and then we would all eat together and give marks to each. Most of the time it was eldest brother-in-law who cooked the best. Now we all live separately and as it happened, don't want to see each other's face.

Yup, I certainly remember the day we shifted into the first apartment of our very own. We had been staying in a room at my in-laws' house; and having a place of our own was such a big event. In fact, I started planning for the move a year earlier. On the day of the move, I thought I had everything packed and prepared, to find out that I had forgotten to buy a kettle. Other than that, it was really fun unpacking - the feeling of having so much space that I could decorate and put up my stuff!

i remember the first house i moved in when i left my mom's its just a small one, with a small bedroom, just enough for a double bed, a small closet and a drawer, and there's this little space where i can move around. i was living there with my boyfriend who became my husband. actually it was a big house divided into 4 and the owner had each one rented. 2 houses below and 2 houses on the second storey. we had the one below. i cant remember having forgotten something there, but when i moved in, there was no refrigerator, took us months before we were able to have one, and it came from an inlaw, gave us their old one.

Hm, I cant answer this question because I still live in my Parent's house so I can feel the sensation when moving to new house or apartment, But now I live in a dormitory, I live in my dormitory since 3 years ago, but I always back to my parent's house every weekend. I think I will do that for about 5 or 6 years again to build or buy a new house and I hope I can do that.

This is interesting, because 7 years ago I moved into a little blue and white apartment, and I still live here, only now I live here with my husband. We were in Arizona for a while, when he had a job down there, but I continued to pay the rent on this place and kept it up, so when he was done working, we'd have the apartment to come home to.

Well, our first apartment was one that I found by dumb luck. It's a small one bedroom at the back of the building with a tree wall seperating us from another apartment building. It's a cute little place, and quite so far. Unfortunately we are in a college town with college football and we're near the stadium so I dunno how much longer it will be quiet.

I was young when I moved out of home due to my so called mother and I need to say that was more than just a few years ago to be honest it was 42 years ago and it was all good, things were so different then. My rent was 35.00 a month and back then there was no such thing as damage deposits and the landlord was always willing to unglog a drain or toilet at no extra cost. I thought I had the world right by the buns and I did. I worked long hours I got my grade 10 which was more than enough at that time and is still as advanced as most have coming out of grade 12 in this day and age. I never had time for a pet but I could have had one if I wanted one but I was always happy. I have also bought a house that isn't nearly as easy. Lots of stress. Now today I rent an apartment to the tune of 815.00 per month and I also had to pay 815.00 damage deposit, I'm not allowed to even have a visit with my puppy. My Ex husband came so I could see my puppy he knows how I love her and I was told that next time he brings her back here I will be evicted. That's how things have changed so drastically. I just hate it.

Wow that's quite a difference to now with prices! It sounds like you had a good land lord at the time. I saw your discussion about your puppy - it sucks you cant see her!

Hi saundyl! Wow! That was such a very long time ago! I don't think I can remember that far back! I do know that there were way too many things that I needed! And I needed them right away! It just seemed so overwhelming! I am still in my very first apartment since I never left! I am here about 29 years, or so I think! It seemed so strange and scary at the time! There was just so much to do! Everything seemed so new! Except the apartment wasn't and it wasn't in such great shape either! I wish I had known what I was doing way back then! I would have made the Landlord at the time re-do the damn floors because now I'm stuck with them and I want to get rid of the carpet! You live and you learn!

That's a long time to have been in the same apartment! People seem to move so often now its surprising to hear people say they have been somewhere for a long time. They havent done ANY upgrades since you moved in?

Hello, I got my first apartment when I was in college. It had a small kitchen where you could practically stand in the middle of the room and touch everything in the kitchen. The bedroom was connected to the bathroom. There was no shower only a bathtub so I took bath every night. The ceiling was high and living room was small. It got me by for a few months. The rent was cheap.I had everything before I moved in so only had to move in my clothes and towels and cooking utensils and one couch and garbage containers and a bed, that's it.

I remember my very first apartment. I shared it with my boyfriend. We were blessed to find such a nice place for so cheap and have a great landlord to boot. We had everything that we needed a good year or so before we got the place. I had great luck with apartments during my teenage years.. Finding good ones for good rates with good landlords. I just wish I could pull that off now!
