Are you getting tired of Summer food? Do you want stews, soup, a pot of baked beans? Which will you make first? I think soup will be the first for us with home baked bread. For those who live in temperate climates do you eat the same all year or are there special foods at special times?

Hi, Pat! It's pretty much the same thing in hot climates with food as with clothes. We are in summer almost all the time, and look forward to those times when a few cool days come along to wear our nice fall clothes and cook those wonderful, hearty dishes for which the weather doesn't work out! We do have years with no cool days at all, and we miss both the clothes and the food.

you are in Florida right? I really don't think I could live there, just to much heat for me. Blessings

It has been SO hot here the past couple weeks, that i have been refraining from using th oven as much as possible!! i feel like in the summer i get stuck in this rut of quick, easy, simple meals, but i SO enjoy cooking! I just wish it wasn't so hot. Once the weather starts to cool off again, andi can stand having the oven on for a couple of hours, i cannot WaIT to make home-made lasagna! Yummy.....

Usually, the summer is the only time we will do grilling. And after awhile I kinda get sick of the food haha. There was a string of cookouts in July that lasted like each other day and it was the same old. Burgers, dogs, salds , chicken . I could go for some steaks on the grill but that is rare because they cost so much more . I think we prob will have a bbq for my bros bday and then labor day and that will be the last one , but i can see my bro having them till it snows hehe.

I'm actually getting a little tired of summer food too. I feel like I'm eating the same things over and over. This is because I refuse to use my oven in the summer time. I'm looking forward to the cooler months so I can make more home cooking, slow cooking dishes in the oven.

Hi pat! You are looking forward to making winter food already? Not me! Although, it is easier to cook in the winter! I am running out of summer foods to make! It has been so hot lately I don't know what to make anymore! It is easier to cook in the winter because I love using the oven just to warm up the house! But, I am not looking forward again to the cold weather! It will be here soon enough! I love the summer and will really miss it! Am I the only one? My girlfriend said almost the same thing as you, but not about cooking! She just wants the cooler temps!

I love the fresh summer foods, and oddly enough, there have been so many cooler days this summer, that I've also been able to indulge my love for chili, stews, and homemade soups, as well. Guess that is the best of both worlds? Karen

In general we have had much cooler weather this year, so I have indulged a little from time to time. I will always eat chili, winter or summer, it is just my favorite. I will start making things like beans and ham and potato soup soon. There is a yummy hash brown casserole that will be great when the weather is just a little cooler as well. I will be making more things in the oven as it is cooling off, too. We actually set a record low in our area last night. It got down to 51 degrees.

It is getting down that far around here once in a while, love sleeping when it's cool. Thanks

I have lived in Mexico for 6 years, but came from Delaware, even though it is always hot or warm here I think my bodies cycle wants chili, soups and stews when fall is approaching back home. I have already been gathering up ingredients for a big pot of chili and corn bread. I make soup a lot in the fall and winter too, even though it is still 80 degrees here. I love summer food, but then again I love all kinds of food!

There are several here who live in Mexico at least part time. I love four season and have spent most of my life on the desert so am glad to have 4 seasons and trees. Thanks

It's supposedly summer, but it feels like fall or spring - because it's been so chilly out. So I really have been craving less of the whole watermelon-corn-sandwich type things and more of soups and chili lately. Mainly because it's been SUPER cold out! I still occasionally make soup and hot dishes during the summer - but not as often. Obviously when it's 90 degrees out you probably want to eat something that won't raise your tempature even further.
