Last weekend, my husband invited his cousins up to pick blackberries. 7 showed up and they had a great time. My husband cooked a barbecue for them afterward. Ever have a wild food party? Celebration? Festival? Family Gathering? Pot Luck? anything?

That sounds like a lot of fun! My friends and I used to pick blackberries and then make blackberry jam together. I like your idea. In a way it's like fish fries or clamming parties.

That is great! I wish someone was here to help me make jam when I make it. So you had a jam making event together. I sooo envy you!

See, there you go. Next time you know you're going to make jam, invite like-minded people over for a jam jam. Doing potentially boring or tedious food preservation is so much more fun in a group.

Had a pot luck gathering maybe once in my life at a party. Our families are all city people who wouldn't take the time to pick anything...lol Am not being sarcastic here at all. These are real facts. I'm the person who never saw a cow or chicken until I was in my teens. Sounds like you had a fun time. Always fun to get together with family.

I admire people who can do this and enjoy their fruits and veggies. I've never been into gardening. Am one of those that can't be in the sun for long because of the sun. Too fair and have had skin cancer. I tried growing tomatoes probably 30 years ago and failed miserably. Never made any attempt again.

You'd like the lady I worked for the other day. She has a garden surrounded by trees. I can be in the shade and weed whatever part is in the shade. I have rosacea that is made worse by the sun. She hired me primarily for weeding. She's part Native American and light brownish, but she realizes that someone with fair skin needs to be protected from the sun. I'm very fair skinned. So she had me work in the shade Monday. She had made an offer before.

Doctor Who, watched a few times. When you have a Dr. Who party, what do you do? Sounds interesting (totally off-topic, but interesting just the same).

Writer, I used to live in the Mountain in California. My Ex and I had 15 acres of Apples, wild blackberries, a couple of pear trees and a couple of cherry trees, green grapes and concord grapes. The people that lived there before we bought the land, were literally living off the land. Every Fall usually in October, we had a big family gathering to harvest the apples. There were 40 trees so they were able to take home what they wanted and we had a big party afterwards. I also had a huge garden that they were able to share in. It was a great way to share. Leenie

Wow! That sounds sooo cool and so much like fun. So you had an apple picking party. Very neat! Wish I could have gone, I love apples and all the different fruits and berries you had.

Writer, Thanks for the BR. Those were good times except for my marriage but you can't have it all. I also belonged to a Co-op that I absolutely loved. Those were what I called my hippie days. Leenie
