Why did you say that?

Last week my dad came over to my apartment and took me to the ER. I had had a migraine for a couple of days, and the medicine my primary care physician gave prescribed me was not working. I had thrown up (sorry if I'm grossing anyone out), and was bordering on passing out, so I figured I'd better go to the hospital. When I got into the exam room, I sat on the bed and my dad sat in a corner chair. When the doc on call finally came in, he introduced himself. And what did I say? "Wow, you're cute. I don't usually get a cute doctor." My dad laughed his rear off. The doctor laughed too. I wasn't embarrassed by saying that. He was so goodlooking that NOT commenting on his looks would be like ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room. I wasn't hitting on him. I'm just not shy about giving compliments. And when I'm in pain, I get blunt. And like I'm going to hit on someone with my dad in the room! Have you said off the wall things before in situations where there really was no reason to say what you said? (say THAT three times fast)

Hey Ambie, nothing wrong in complimentiong someone. I am always blunt & say what i think. Some people don't seem to appreciate my bluntness sometimes, imagine that.

Lol I bet that was something. Wow you say it how you feel. I am sorry you had a migrane for 2 days. I hate to have those I hope you get to feeling better. I can't think of anything that I have said like that in awhile.

I feel good now. This summer I've been having only about three migraines a month. Which is great compared to the six a month I'd been having for many years. Two of those six always end up in the ER. Sometimes the prescription medicine just does not work.

That's funny. I'm sure the doctor enjoyed that comment that you gave him. You probably were the patient that made his day that day. I am usually blunt too. I have a lady doctor that is actually a family friend so I've never told her she was cute. LOL I have told her I liked her shoes before though. :-)

Haha that's AWESOME! Too bad doctors are not supposed to date their patients, but you never know! Way to go!! I think we've all said some things in the heat of the moment for whatever reason. Sometimes I can be shy but I have said some things before, not necessarily that I regret them. Unfortunately, I cannot really think of any off the top of my head right now, though... Hope you're feeling better.

I can't really think of a time that I've ever said anything off the wall. I didn't say it three times fast but did have to read it a few times because I didn't understand part of it... lol. I am a very shy person, so when I do say something it's usually going to be to a friend, or to my fiance... but I don't hit on anyone else but my fiance. I know you weren't hitting on the doctor though. My mom has or had a doctor that looked like a Soap Opera Character.

I find that sometimes when it's a tongue twister or just doesn't sound right from the way you've first read it, to emphasize atleast the fourth or fifth word. That is to say THAT you should talk aloud, to yourself or to others AND emphasize some words that give key POINTS. lol. I'm not yelling I promise!

Hi Ambie~I'm so sorry that you weren't feeling well! I get migranes too so I know how you feel! I hope that you are feeling better! They can be really horrible. Unless you are a migrane sufferer you just wouldn't understand the pain! I do think that the situation was funny though! I know that sometimes when you're out of your mind in pain the strangest things can just come out of your mouth so it's ok! And why not tell the doc that he is cute! It's true that it is really rate to get a cute ER doc! My primary care doc is adorable! We always have the strangest conversations because I've known him 10 years now! We talk about all kinds of personal stuff and half the time I forget why I'm there! And the funniest thing is he is more like my friend then my doc, and his name is Dr. Friend! And I just love him and trust him with my life!

There are two medications for migraines that work much better for me than the one I'm currently on. But Medicaid won't pay for them. So I have to take what they will pay for.

Amb, I'm going to email you to talk to you about a medication that I am on that helps with migranes too. I haven't had one in a really long time.

Hi my friend Ambie. After an ultra sound scan at 36 weeks pregnancy I had seen a midwife that said "Your baby might not be compatible with life". She explained "At nine o'clock tomorrow you will go to the fetal medicine unit at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol". The consultant said "Your baby has spina bifida and hydrocephalus". Then he asked "Do you want to have an abortion"? I replied "NO WAY, that is the most 100% sickness thing I have ever heard. I am sure every midwife in the land would agree with me"! Yes, I had been so shocked by his question.

Hello AmbiePam. I am sorry that you got sick four weeks ago, but it is really interesting of the conversation between you and the cute doctor, which made him feel happy the whole day, I guess, to have a lady say give so nice a comment to him. I hope that you are well again, my dear friend.

Yeah when we are in pain we tend to say things we wouldn't normally if we were functioning properly. My hubby said both times when I was put under for surgery (gallbladder & sinus)when I woke up I was just cuss'n at my hubby and letting out all my anger I had of things he had done that in my concious mind I had "let go" cause they were not worth starting fights over. I still would of loved to hear me say those things to him and how I said it. He took it w/ a grain of salt that I was wacked on meds, sadly I'm sure some of it was true though *LOL*

hi ambiepam hatley here.long time no see. I am still chuckling 'over this discussion. I am glad the doctor laughed.wish I ever'got the good looking ones.mostly in er I get an elderly doctor just like myself. trying to think, oh yes a few years back, quite a few actually, I went to this little clinic sponsered by the U Of Irvvine and my doctor was new, just been rotated there. He looked not much older than my son who was about fifteen at the time. I looked at him and was amused at how courteous he was and how young.I blurted out,Oh gee I hope youpre a good doctor, you cant be more than twenty" He laughed and said, why thanks bur I am thirty five.I am really complimented.then he went on to almost knock me off my chair. Mrs Hatley I can give you antibiotics for your ear but did you know you have diabetes? ah no.,Yes its been on your chart here for almost a year didnt the other doctor tellyou. No he didnt. well we are going to get you to feeling better. He put me on glyburide and asked me to lose weight. I lost forty five pounds at that time and he took me off of all medications.that was a long time back and oh how things have changed I am now overweight and on a ton of meds.but I will always love that young doctor for telling me I had diabetes. He could have saved my life.

more times then i can count. especially after hubby passed away i was so crazy for a while i said a lot of off the wall things that made no sense. i can only remember a couple thats so embarrassing i cant say but yes, i did ask a doctor i had when i had cancer if he was married, which made him blush. but i quickly explained it was for my daughter as i thought he was so handsome AND nice with a good bedside manner. but he was married. my daughter seen him later when i went back for my check up and agreed except she said he was short for her anyways, since shes the tall thin model type

Good on you for saying what you think and I’m glad you are feeling better. I had surgery on my nose for a deviated septum a few years ago and as I was being wheeled back into my room after the surgery I apparently started making rather suggestive propositions to my husband in a voice loud enough for the nurses to hear and have a chuckle at. My poor husband was a little embarrassed and could not believe what was coming out of my mouth, blame it on the anaesthetic, what can I say? At least I directed it at my partner! (LOL) I wonder if you’ll ever get to see the cute doctor again?

I think most good-looking people know that they are good looking and they get compliments all the time that reinforces their belief. What you said they have heard 1000 times. Yes those migraines can be debilitating, and make a good excuse for hitting on the doctor. You were hitting on the doctor you know despite your protestations to the contrary.

Needless to say, my naval peircing migrated.

I think everyone has. I know sometimes my children say I am a bit to blunt. If you ask me a question you need to be sure you want my honest opinion because that is what you are going to get.Needless to say it is not always pretty and sometimes I do think to myself did I say that.

I know how you feel! I used to get those migraines also and they are terrible. I don't get blunt, but sometimes when I've had that severe pain I've said things that don't make sense. I don't know if it's because of the pain, but at least, when I feel better, I can laugh about it. Hope your headaches stay away!

Good for you Girl. Now that came straight from your heart didn't it? If you had stopped to think over it, you'd never have blurted it out and see, no one's going to feel bad over something like, the doctor would have definitely felt flattered especially coming from a cute girl. I blurt out so many things cos I'm very impulsive and have to say what I feel immediately, but right now I can't think of any of those things, there being so many I guess.
