Jesus Says Talks with God is Better than Spectacular Miracles

Well, Jesus didn't specifically said that talking with God was better than miracles. But he did show it and stressed it unequivocally one day. He just fed 5000 men (probably 15 k if we add the women and kids) with almost nothing. You can just imagine the excitement that brought to the crowds and the disciples. They probably thought, "Boy, this Jesus is something else. We wonder what's next. It must be doubly exciting!" They were wrong. The next in Jesus' agenda was not doubly exciting--it was ten times more exciting. Coz Scripture says Jesus "immediately" sent the disciples to the other side of the lake (Matt.14.22). He was in hurry to do something. I can see him so excited about the next thing he was to do. And he wanted to be all alone doing it! Was what it? "He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray," says Matthew. So that was what the excitement was all about! Nothing beats talking with the Father, alone, in a remote place! It's lots better than spectacular miracles, although miracles are always good and welcome. I have my quiet times in remote places once in a while, and it feels great! There's nothing like getting out of all the hassle and bustle of life and city life, being still, and knowing that He is God, and just talking with the Father.

Most men are looking for short term, high impact experiences with the Divine. They don't follow and obey God for who He really is, the sovereign One who is worthy to be praised and followed on a day to day basis. Spreading out the news of miracles will not help people to be fully obedient to God. Jesus emphasized that communion with the Father must take precedence more than anything else. This same crowd may probably be the same crowd, who joined saying Hossana, when Jesus entered Jerusalem and also the same crowd (or many of them) who shouted Crucify Him.

Amen. I remember questioning that concept, wondering what could possibly be better than feeding a huge crowd with a miracle, or healing or casting out demons. Thank God that I now know Him well enough to know that a real miracle happens every time I call on Him: He hears me. Me! Just an unimportant person in a huge, uncaring world and He listens to me. That's a miracle.

Amen! I think of it as being a stone of His temple, or what I recently read sonmeone else call it, meeting God in the inner chamber.. It's what keeps us going yes?

Thanks for sharing this familiar passage of scripture. One that was laid upon my heart just yesterday was "God hasn't give us the spirit of fear but one of love, power and a sound mind". The significant thing about this scripture was that I had heard it many times before. But it was only yesterday that it seemed to pop off the pages of my bible and it really did begin to come alive. This scripture alone will help you to be able to face just about anything in life that we may ever encounter. Glory to God that he hasn't left us alone. Have a nice evening my friend as we look forward to greater things to come even in the here and now. Happy mylot!
