My friend swears by a shot of wild turkey and a whole garlic clove. I've tried it and it seems to work. My uncle in TN makes cough syrup with whiskey and honey and other secret ingredients. I'm not so sure if it works. When my nose is stuffy I go to Winghouse and get fries with a side of "House on fire" sauce. It clears me right up.

There is this stuff called Emergen-C that works really well. It's little packets of powder you can mix with water and drink hot or cold. They're great!

I tried this out today and it seemed to work rather well. Now if I can just feel good enough by Sunday to drive like 3 hours for some volunteer stuff, then do physical volunteer work for 8 hours, and then drive home for an hour to two hours, that would be fantastic!

If I feel one coming on then I take Vitamin C and Echinachea, and this seems to wart it off. If it comes on all the sudden then I like to use the Alieve Cold and Sinus tabs, those seem to keep it in check til it runs its course.

Yes, I need to consider having some Aleve Cold on Sinus on hand for the times I get one without warning.

Wow!! Echinachea does not work for you? It sure has helped me in the past, and that is why I choose to keep it around. Nyquil on the other hand does not seem to work for me, so it is a mix of sorts is it not?

Since I take meds for high blood pressure, I haven't been able to find any cold remedies that work I can take with it. My solution to this problem has been to quit having colds. I haven't had a cold for about 4 years now, and I hope to continue in this pattern. I think teachers develop immunities from being around so many germs.

Well, I have tried the Tea with Lemon and Honey which does help some also. The Chicken soup does sound good. One of these days if I ever feel up to it, I should consider msking some homemade soup of some sort. Have not done this in yrs.

I take Codral ffrom the chemist, it helps with the nose, chest and throat, and can also help shorten the length of the cold.
I'm not sure what the main ingredients are, something like pseudoephedrine, but I think they've actually changed it because too many people were breaking into chemists to steal all the cold tablets to make speed, I had a lady ask me once why I was buying such a big box, looking at me really suspiciously lol I said because it's cheaper!

COLD AND FLU:
Here is a delicious recipe for a cold and flu soup: Sauté 6 crushed cloves of garlic in 1 tsp. vegetable oil until golden. Pour in a quart of beef or chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and whisk in 2 egg whites.
Beat together 2 egg yolks and 2 Tbsp. distilled white vinegar; pour this mixture into the soup. Season with salt and pepper and top with croutons if desired

I think it would be possibly 30 or 40 years since I've had a cold, so I can't personally recommend anything, but I do know what works for a number of friends.
A Chinese man told us to add a heaped teaspoon of grated ginger to a mug of Coke, and boil it in the microwave. My friends love the drink and say it works wonders for their colds.

I have a cold remedy that beats them all.. the only thing is that it is painful..it stings/burns.. I take peroxide and put it in my mouth and then blow it out of my nose....yeah its grows and its painful but it works the fist time and I dont have to wait a week or two with a cold ..if I get one one day i get rid of it the same day....the reason it works so well is because ONE peroxide disinfects the infected areas and kills off germs and virus' TWO, peroxide oxygenates the blood which increases all antibodies within the body ..makes them super antibodies...and was even known to kill the HIV virus..ofcoarse the only place to get this cure is to go to i believe mexico now...the doctor was banned in the usa for using it and successfully curing almost every single ailness with just using a measured dose of peroxide...its now banned in usa for use because its the only thing that really works..also if you want to replace penicilin use garlic cloves.....it was the very first antibiotic used and has never failed...why penicilin then ..pharmacutical money maker

I usually just do vitamin C or wait it out.
I have had some success with echinachea helping guinea pig immune systems (under veterinary supervision), but I'm not sure if it has really ever helped me.
Now I've got a cold and next week I have two very important finals. I'm going to try more than just vitamin C.

try using potato chips when you have a sore throat...then we used liberally during the time.... mint, garlic, garlic, garlic, ohion, hot peppers, chicken soup, KFC chicken, ground ivy (creeping charlie), teas, and so we basically dose ourselves to health! Good luck!!
