What would be your ideal job? |
|
Growing up I always wanted to be a pilot but was told I couldnt as I have an eye disease that affects my vision. I was pretty gutted. So I decided I would like to be a travel writer but actually ended up becoming a Sport Science Lecturer which is very different to what I had originally imagined! I am now unable to teach as have been diagnosed with MS. So recently have had to re-evaluate what work I could or would like to do. What about you? What job have you always wanted to do? Have you achieved your dream?

pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | hey there. Being a pilot always seemed like a great way to see the world! Is that why you wanted to be a pilot too? Teaching is a secure job and you can earn a decent living, well at least enough to survive! Thanks for the comment!

I then decided to go for a paramedic yet again I was diagnosed with Ulcerativ Colitis which shattered that dream. Im just finishing up my 911 dispatcher diploma but with being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis half way thtough my 2 year program Im thinking of going back for another certificate just in case. Im thinking when Im done this April I will take another course such as business, medical admin, or something similar.

5. KrauseHome (13385) | 3 months ago | Well, back in the day I wanted to always be a teacher. I can remember always holding pretend school as I was growing up as well. I even took one semester of Early Childhood education but had to drop out due to not able to handle the classes needed at that time. Then for a long time I wanted to work with women that have been abused, and would still Love to do this, but for now I am just earning some Extra $$ online from time to time and a Call taker for Yellow Cab. I eventually would Love to be a published author as well someday, and will not give up on some of these dreams for sure.

pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | hey there. It is important to have goals and dreams isnt it? Being a teacher can be very rewarding, it is hard work though. I really enjoyed it. You seem to have many things you are passionate about and that is great. I really hope you get to reach your goals. Good luck!

6. jenseyedea (358) | 3 months ago | My ideal job is working as a clinical psychologist. I am getting there. I am just starting my MA in psychology. I would like to work with people who struggle with addictions and people who have o.c.d. I would like to teach in a college in addition to having a private practice.
| |
| |
|
|
pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | Hey there. You certainly do have motivation and drive! Doing an MA is hard work but it will all be worth it. I started a PhD and I absolutely loved it but became sick and had to give it up. Something I really regret, but was out of my control. I wish you lots of luck and hope to see you running a practice one day!

7. jonjee0203 (1624) | 3 months ago | I got suckered in to do national service in the unrewarding civil service. One bad, horrendous mistake of a life-time. I should have followed the advice of my dad to do Law. How life would have been different then if I had only done that.Well, we cannot all live our dreams. We take the bad and the good, hoping that we make more good decisions than bad decisions. By the way, what is MS?
| |
| |
|
|
pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | That sucks that you feel like you made a mistake. But if we learn from them that is a good thing? Maybe you need to have a new outlook on life and try to find something else you can become inspired by? Should have explained...MS is Multiple Sclerosis. Its a neurological condition. I really hope you can find new motivations in your life with regards to work life. Thanks for the comment

| 8. PapaKopp (9) | 3 months ago | Haha.. being a senior in high school this is basically what has filled my mind for a LONG time. I know i still have plenty of time to decide but still. Anyway, back to the question, my absolute ideal job would basically be not having a real job. basically my all time favorite idea of a "job" would consist of traveling the US, maybe even the world, playing music on the streets for as much money as the charitable people of this world will give me. Funny thing is, if my family had a decent amount of money, i would be on my way to becoming a pilot right now haha.

|
pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | hey there. Ahh still time to decide! Wouldn't it be great if money didnt rule the world and we could just do the things we love 24/7. I think a job that consisted of travelling would be wicked. Any thoughts about what you might be able to do realistically? thanks for the comment.
| |
|
|
| PapaKopp (9) | 3 months ago | realistically i honestly dont have a very good idea. generally speaking, i would still love to travel alot so a job that is sort of universally needed. specifically i've been thinking of being a teacher or maybe a mechanic. both of these careers are basically needed everywhere, the economy isnt gonna change the fact that people still need an education and need their car's fixed. well maybe not the second one. but as for now im actually considering going into the peace corps for a few years. i dont know if i'll be able to handle being away from my loved ones but it would be a challenge i would love to take.

pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | hey there. You are right being a teacher is something you can take anywhere with you and always in demand. I learnt how to teach english as a second language and this enabled me to see South Korea, it was an amazing experience. Learning a trade is always worth while and really helps if you want to move abroad. I wish you lots of luck which ever career path you end up taking!

9. highflyingxangel (8915) | 3 months ago | When I was growing up I wanted to do so many things. I wanted to be a Vet, I wanted to be a doctor and I wanted to be a nurse. However, when I was a kid and played pretend all the time the one thing that I played the most was teacher. I loved to pretend that I was a teacher. Well, as I got older I decided I wanted to teach but I thought about teaching music. In highschool I changed my mind again and decided that I wanted to teach preschool.
I'm currently a teacher in a preschool and the age group that I teach are one year olds. I'd rather teach children ages 3-5 but I understand that everyone has to start somewhere and my current salary is too great to pass up.

pushkin69 (259) | 3 months ago | hey there. I think it is great that you are in the profession that you wanted to do even as a kid! Not many people get to do that. Like you say everyone has to start somewhere. Is it an easy jump to make for you or do you need to do much extra study? I wish you lots of luck! thanks for the comment
