Do you? I'm curious to know who here does and who doesn't. I personally don't. No one in my family was ever into poker and so I never really learned (although I learned many other card games: cribbage, rummy, spades, and so on) but I really do want to learn it!
My question for you all is where did you learn it, how do you acquire skill, and how long did it take you to become "good" at it? Is it something where skill is required or is purely luck?
And do you know of any instructional websites (NOT gambling websites) or books that could help me learn how to play?

I know several types of poker. You need luck for getting a good hand, and you need skill because you need to trick the opponent, know when to fold, call their bluffs, etc.

is a good website for learning how to play.

I have to make this clear- I ONLY play 2-card poker. Yes! Why? Because 2-card poker involves skills - major skills. Do you need to be lucky? It'll be nice if you're lucky - it's the recipe for winning the big one on WSOP (world series of poker). But you don't need it. You just need a good head on your shoulder, betting patterns, and a poker face.
The only way that you can be good at it is by playing the game. That's the only way! And you can play online and what-not, I'm sure you can find them anywhere. Gambling online is illegal in the U.S. - so even if you try, you won't get very far with gambling online - it's all fake chips.

I don't know how to play poker too. My brother does want to teach us, because he claims he knows how, but we never had time and besides, he wants to teach us with chips and we don't have them. He says that's the way it should be played.
I don't know where to find instructions. I'll try searching.
