Guitar is one of the well-loved instrument, and want to play by many. What can you recommend for beginners, acoustic or electric guitar?. What are the advantages and disadvantages if there's any. thanks!

I think if you are a beginner you should try your hands on a acoustic it is a bit hard but trust me if you will learn to play acoustic guitar then you will surely be a great guitar player soon then you can easily try your hands over elctric without much training for it because it is easier than acoustic.

I think the best guitar to be played by beginners would be the acoustic one. Because electric guitars are more complicated to use than the simple guitar itself. Though i am not a guitar player, i can see the difference just by looking at the television shows and movies.lolrolleyes Good luck to your guitar lessons. I hope someone could help you learn the instrument. thumbup

Hi seekers. For me electric guitar is just a little extension to the guitar family. So if you are starting to learn you should try your hands on acoustic by default. Because if you are impatient and not into music completely electric guitar will begin to sound annoying and you would most probably quit learning guitar. So my advise go for acoustics..

I do not play either, but i would think that a acoustic would be easier for the fact that you can play it any where, and you do not have to have it plunged into a amp all the time, it would just be easier to carry it around with out the amp, and you could play or practice outside.

Hi there seekers.... ok first of all i am a drummer and i basically don't much play the guitar... but i like to play that as well, i only play the rhythm part, my brother plays guitar, well to start of with you must go for the acoustic guitar, all the people here will tell you the same thing, i started of with an acoustic guitar and i like playing it still and then i started to catch some tunes on the electric guitar with the distortion and reverberation.... so one should definitely start of with an acoustic guitar, in fact playing the acoustic guitar makes your fingers strong enough for the electric one, coz playing the rhythm is much easier to play on an electric guitarwub... and with the effects you get a lot more fun..... well as i said i am a drummer, i play only drums in public, i can't always have the drumset near me so i like to play some stuff on the acoustic guitar to pass some time.... have a nice day seekers!cool

thanks for sharing voldrox, that was quite long! about drumming, well, it will be on another discussion as i'm also interested on it, i wish i could also have a drumset ...just for the basics :-D

myLot reputation of 98/100. voldrox (3522)  3 years ago

hehe... yeah drums can also be very very interesting i have to agree.... hey better have the steel strings than the nylon.. coz that is quite different and requires a different type of playing method, you would want to try that now, go the mainstream steel strings one and later you can also jump on to the electric guitar!wub

I would go with acoustic as a beginner. It's just more versatile, in my opinion, and, while both are probably just as easy to learn, it can be cumbersome going from electric to acoustic. If you learn on acoustic, the transition as a lot easier. This is all my opinion though, as a heads up.

Someone will always say otherwise if someone will say acoustic or electric. But for me, I started with electric, because it's not that bulky when I was learning chords. Good thing too that I started with electric because I ended up playing it good.

If you are just begining, I think acoustic is definately better to learn on than an electric. It may be harder to finger the chords, but, down the road when you get an electric guitar, it will seem oh so easy! It takes a lot of repetative practice to learn the chord positions whether you have an acoustic or an electric guitar. Good luck and rock on!
