I love my digital camera too...or should I say I did until this happened.

By the way, what happened to your avatar? I only see it when commenting back to you.

I'm happy to report that my camera works! It turned out that it was my batteries that didn't.

I deleted my avatar because someone posted my picture in a discussion. Long story but I deleted all my pictures because I didn't know how this person would use any of my kids pictures as well. It was such a mess. I informed mylot about it so they removed the discussion.

Well mylot didn't get rid of your avatar picture completely. Like I already mentioned I can still see it when posting replies to you. Maybe if you write admin they can help fix that so that it isn't there at all anymore.

I was wondering about that myself and I was just wondering if it was just a glich in the system but I found out what she did. She saved my picture to all photos in the system and with the discussion comment she had made. Thank you. I reported it just right now to mylot and hopefully it will be removed. This lady has been nothing but trouble to me. I was thinking about the whole thing and she is one to call the kettle black when all the things she posted were lies. I am glad mylot is aware because if I see one comment referring directly to me again I will write mylot until they really do something.

Another thing you could do is upload a different picture altogether and use that as your avatar. It doesn't have to be a picture of yourself or your family. It could be a picture of the sky, a flower, a favorite animal, etc. Hopefully that way it will reset it and the avatar you deleted will be no more.

10 cameras in 10 years?

I didn't use mine as heavily as that. I was hoping it would last longer because of this. But I guess it doesn't work that way.

Update: It ended up being the batteries. I'm so happy that my camera still works!

Hey pro, it wasn't coming on at all. And yes, it takes AA's (2 to be more precise). The battery charger that I have alerts me of any bad batteries, or at least it's supposed to. I guess it missed these because I just tried another pair of rechargeable batteries and it turns out my camera isn't dead, after all! Whoo hoo! Why I didn't do this sooner (and before I started this discussion) I don't know. But I'm psyched to say that my camera still works!

It's funny that you mention that about warranties. It sure seems to work that way sometimes, doesn't it?

You know...old style 35mm film cameras actually were pretty rugged and lasted years and years without needing replaced...I had a fairly nice one with interchangable lenses and all that for a year or so, but it mysteriously disappeared when I let a "friend" stay with me for a few weeks several years back, and I never could afford to get another...

I still haven't bought a digital one yet...I guess that is about the only choice there is now, unfortunately...

Hey James, it turned out to be the batteries. My camera's working fine now. Whew! But when the time comes I'll probably just get a new one as getting it repaired can cost more than the camera is worth. My husband and I learned this after taking my mom's 35mm down to a repair shop some years back. It just wasn't worth fixing.

That sucks Lamb. As the saying goes "with friends like that, who needs enemies?" My husband and I have an SLR. We got it back before becoming part of the Internet world. I know quality wise it's a better camera, but I love how I can upload photos right onto my computer as well as the size of it (uh don't go there LOL). It can fit in my purse without any problems so I'd rather take it than the SLR which is just too big for my purse and my liking. (Again, don't go there LOL)

I haven't bought film in years. I didn't know it was becoming extinct.

That's good to know At least batteries are cheaper to replace than a camera so all the more money in your pocket:)

My first one I got was an Olympus as well (just like my current one). I bought it a few years before this one. Nothing's really wrong with it, other than the door that covers the lens broke off. So it would always turn on/off when I didn't want it to.

As for my current camera, it works, after all! It was the batteries that were bad.

Yeah, I don't think a lot of people know. That's the mystery with electronics.

I don't think so either. Fortunately for me, mine didn't kick the bucket. Apparently the rechargeable batteries were older than I realized. What's strange is that my charger showed them as good. Go figure!
