I'm a bit f an insomniac and a few years ago a friend of mine who was an artificial medicine fanatic recommended I stop drinking coffee around Noon each day to help me with it. So I gave it a try and sure enough it does seem to help me. Ever since I have had a rule where I don't allow myself to drink coffee after Noon and I've noticed that whenever I break it, I struggle to get to sleep before midnight. Anybody else had similar experiences?

Yeh, I have to monitor and controll my coffee intake for the same reason. I don't really have a cut off time, but I do try to controll the ammount I drink, I love coffee......no...I LOVE coffee. Most of my consumption is in the morning, though I do enjoy a cup after a good dinner. A lot of times too I find I can counter too much caffine durring the day with a big ol' fattie at night, lol.

I have the same craving after a big dinner especially when eating out - I often fancy an espresso after a big dinner although lately I've started asking for decaf espresso. As for a 'big fattie'...? You'll have to explain that one...

You know, I think coffee and caffeine affects everyone a little differently. My wife stops drinking black tea after 6 pm because it keeps her awake late. For me, I love to relax with a good strong coffee at night. I add milk and sugar. The warmth, smoothness and sweetness of the coffee actually help me sleep. Vive la difference!

Now I agree with that which is why I posted the initial discussion. My wife is the same as you in that she likes to drink coffee late at night and it has no effect on her. So you're absolutely right - our bodies are all different on this.

Well, actually, a lot of times i will have an evening cup of coffee so I can stay up later to work. Every time.. it puts me straight to sleep!! Seriously!! Right after i finish drinking it, I crash. So much for staying up to work! But really, I have been trying to cut back on my coffee because I have been drinking too much!

I have the same problem. Getting to sleep at night is difficult for me even without coffee so what I've been doing for about the past two months is I bought some decaf, and if I want coffee after 2 pm I drink the decaf. It's working I have been able to actually get to sleep around 11 p.m. now on most nights.
My friend on the other hand she can drink 2 pots a day and it doesn't bother her a bit. She still falls asleep at the drop of a hat
I just don't get it LOL! I love coffee it is by far my favorite beverage, unfortunately due to other issues though I am going to have to stop drinking it completely

For me, I had a rule of only one cup of coffee in the morning, or else I would be wired for the next 24 hours. Well, I have cut out caffeine from my diet . . . so any amount of caffeine would make my body go in super shock after a dose of caffeine - hee hee. My grandmother was a green tea drinker, and her rule was no more tea after 3:00 pm - otherwise she'd have trouble sleeping.
