How do you judge if you like/dislike a particular food? Taste? Smell? Look?

Like your friend, I also think a food tastes good if it looks good too. Maybe you call it intuition but that is how I see it. And until now, my intuition never fails me. (^_^)

If your friend can judge accurately just by looking at it,he must be a wizard.As far as smell goes if the smell is pungent there is every possibility that we might take a dislike to it.I can never say by the look that the food will be tasty or not.I think taste finally decides whether the food is palatable or not.

I think that I have to test the food with all my senses(excluding hearing and touch) but look of the food is the most important. When it looks good it makes you want to eat it.

I decided it by smell! I think with from its smell, I'm able to know it's hot, salty or sweet.. Sometimes only from smell good-smelling food I can feel hungry.. When I was child, i judge a food from its look, but that method not effective. Once my mom serve a black traditional soup from East Java. The color is black and there are some thick black meat inside. I didn't want to eat it, but my mom ask me, so I tried it. And the taste is delicious! I like it until now. Since that day I never judge food by its look.
If the smell of certain food makes me feel sick, I can't taste it, so for me, smell-method is the best

i cane decide whether i like the food or not by it's smell itself. i have avery bad habit of slightly sniffing the food before i eat. my nose is very sensitive to food. y mom says we must not sniff food before eating but i have this habit and never take care to shun it.

The presentation of the food should be very appealing first of all because this is what I look before eating the food, no matter where I get it, it should be clean and hygienic then the presentation and then only the taste because If I put the first spoon of food in my mouth and find it not tasty then the whole food might be put aside.

I like to taste food to decide whether i am going to like it or not.
It is true that what is appealing to the eyes is appealing to the stomach but i also take the chance of tasting the food even if it is not looking good or served properly.

I will always taste anything! If I find the taste bad, that is when I decide! Another big factor for me in deciding if I like a food or not, is the texture. Some foods feel terrible in my mouth, even if they taste great. Example: Watermelon. I love the tastes, but I hate the weird feeling in my mouth while I eat it.

Generally i decide on a food when it gives out a good aroma. It is not necessary that a food tastes good if it smells good. Similarly a food may taste good without a good smell. But the looks are such that even if the food tastes and smells bad it can be made attractive by the way you garnish it. Appearance may attract people only later can they decide on the quality of the food. I can judge a food by the smell of the food and then like it.

i taste them before i decide if i like them or not. there are "ugly" looking foods that taste good. there are bad smelling foods that taste good. so i definitely have to taste them first so that i can decide.
