| | I've read that grapes or raisins are dangerous as they can damage the dog's kidneys. Also, onions and garlic - with onions being the worse of the two. Apparently, they cause red blood cell damage and the effect is cumulative. So, the damage doesn't have to come from just one ingestion... it can be added up over time. | | | | | | | laken02 (589)

| | I have heard that chocolate is poisonous to dogs as well, however, whenver she gets the chance, my min pin eats the closest chocolate thing she can get her mouth on! She's been eating it for years now, with no such luck on kicking the bucket anytime soon... On the other hand, all dogs are different, and some may not be able to handle any amount of chocolate, so I don't recommend allowing dogs to eat it. In fact, when my dog gets into it, she normally gets beat to within an inch of keeping her skin...she knows better, and she knows she knows better! Just remember, dogs will eat anything that smells good to them, deadly or not. Nuts are also a no, so watch out around salted nuts, because the salt will make them want some! If you live in the south/east coast area, you can get some frogs in the summer time in your backyard. They show up in the muggy months. A lot of times, my dog would go after them while they hopped. If she was dumb enough to pick one up in her mouth, they would put off some chemical in their skin that would make her start foaming at the mouth...it was hilarious. So yeah, just watch out for the leftout food! Have a great day! Dive Deep! | | | | | | | laken02 (589)

| | So far what I have on my list that's bad for dogs is: chocolate in large amounts, grapes and/or raisins, corn, and any bird bones (chicken, turkey, etc). The bones are bad for them because they're hollow and will splinter and have the possibility of causing internal damage to the dog. Except for chocolate, I don't know that these things are necessarily poisonous, but they aren't good for your dog in large amounts. I have three Pitbull puppies, and I've found the deadliest combination is boredom and anything softer than steel. If they're bored, they will chew and swallow damn near anything softer than steel, and then later sick it up, if they swallow too much of it. My advice is if you're able, keep a close eye on your dog/s; that's the best thing to do. When my puppies come inside and one of them is chewing on something that I can't immediately see, I take it from their mouth to make sure it's something that's edible and safe for them to eat. If not, into the trash it goes, and they get a cookie instead. (My puppies are getting slick, though: now, before they come inside, they drop whatever they're chewing on outside the door, and THEN come in :D. ) | | | | | | | | | | Joint Health Supplement An effective natural health supplement for joint and muscle pain. buysupplepowder.com | add comment | | | |
